Location: Remote Canada
Reports To: Media Supervisor

The Role:
The post-production technician is responsible for utilizing industry standard software (i.e. photoshop) to enhance raw images provided by JDP’s photographer to high standards that are driven by product requirements and client demand (i.e. compare products, configuration products, client custom work).

Core Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Utilize various graphics software packages and equipment to correct color balance, set shadows, and “clean-up” images at the professional photographic level within the digital/web/print environment for distribution
  • Collaborate with photographers and dept. leads on jobs from beginning to end
  • Maintain department nomenclature, format and file organization per current processes of all images and image sets
  • Assist in archiving and organizing all photography files for all auto manufacturers (year, model, make)
  • Ensure Autodata media image database is always correct and current
  • Maintain our workflow tools (Jira) with accurate and complete comments and work hour logs
  • Other departmental duties as assigned including:
    • Shoot Postproduction
    • Rolls Postproduction
    • Temp Postproduction
    • Custom OEM Temp work (e.g. exotic, chassis, fleet etc.) Custom Project work (VINpx FCA)
    • Custom Project work (VINpx GM)
    • Incentives

What You'll Be Doing In This Role

In the role of a post-production technician, your day-to-day responsibilities and activities are critical to the production and delivery of high-quality visual content. Here's an outline of what you'll be doing:

 
  • Image Enhancement: Utilize industry-standard software like Photoshop to correct color balance, adjust shadows, and clean up images. Your goal is to enhance raw images captured by photographers to meet the high standards required for digital, web, and print distribution.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with photographers and department leads to understand the vision and requirements for each project. Your collaboration ensures that the final images align with the project goals and client expectations.
  • File Management: Maintain rigorous organization of image files, adhering to department nomenclature and formatting standards. This includes sorting, naming, and archiving images and image sets in a way that they can be easily accessed for current and future needs.
  • Workflow Management: Use tools like Jira to manage your tasks and projects efficiently. This involves keeping accurate and complete comments and work hour logs, ensuring that everyone involved in the process is updated on the project's status.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all work meets the department's high standards for accuracy and quality. This may involve revising your work based on feedback from quality control checks to ensure that the final product meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Departmental Support: You may be assigned to support various departmental duties as needed. These can range from specific post-production tasks like shoot postproduction, rolls postproduction, and temp postproduction to custom project work related to auto manufacturers or special client requests.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest techniques, software updates, and industry trends to continually improve your skills and the quality of your work. This may involve formal training, self-directed learning, or collaborative learning with peers.
  • Feedback and Improvement: Be open to receiving feedback on your work and using it constructively to improve future outputs. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute ideas and suggestions for improving department processes and workflows.
     
Qualifications Of This Role

Education, Experience and Competencies:
  • Formal or semi/formal training in graphic arts is an asset but not required (a certificate from a recognized institution is an asset)
  • PC skills and hands-on experience with MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and raw camera download software (MAC experience is an asset)
  • Up to date Photoshop experience/knowledge
  • Knowledge of common computer and basic Internet technologies is required
  • Good communication skills (written, oral and presentation)
  • Solid understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
