You are motivated to continue to elevate MIFE’s Entrepreneurship Initiatives as the top performing experiential learning and entrepreneurship programs in Canada, and around the world, as measured by learner engagement, satisfaction, and outcomes. You want to be a leading contributor to the advancement of London’s and Canada’s economic development agenda through the creation and maturation of student and alumni (including executive programs) led enterprises. You are inspired to help embed entrepreneurial thinking into Western’s campus culture, and to increase awareness of the resources available through the MIFE. 

What You’ll Do: 

Marketing & Communications

  • Leading the development and implementation of Morrissette communications plans in support of the strategic plan and initiatives, as well as campaigns, opportunities and events as needed.  Examples would be to help drive Demo Day and Accelerator applications and to enhance the reputation of these key initiatives.
  • Creating detailed Communication plan to support KPI’s for marquee initiatives
  • Creating detailed Marketing plan to support KPIs for marquee initiatives  
  • Developing and Driving successful telling of MIFE messaging across Western and external channels 
  • Manage Ad Agency to ensure success with key strategic initiatives and meet KPI’s that are agreed upon.
  • Write and create high-quality communications and marketing materials for a variety of contexts (stories, press releases, social media content, print, web, newsletters, reports, presentations, speaking notes and events) 
  • Active Collaborate with Ivey and Western Communications and Marketing to ensure that key messages are promoted amongst key channels.
  • Produce production of video and multi-media content as needed 
  • Monitor media, digital conversations and community conversations related to the MIFE initiatives and entrepreneurship in the London, southwestern Ontario and Canadian spaces to identify opportunities to engage and communicate MIFE messaging 
  • Oversee MIFE website(s), including any needed content development 
  • Create and strengthen relationships across campus, and in local and national entrepreneurship communities, championing a unified narrative for MIFE stories and key messages 
  • Develop presentations and key messaging documents for Special Advisor to the President & Executive Director of MIFE, as well as key University leaders including the President, Provost, Vice-Presidents and Deans – as well as community-facing partners such as academic counsellors and recruiters.
  • Maintain a pulse on the London, Ontario and National entrepreneurial community with regards to relevant events, and funding opportunities 
  • Ensure that all communications are effective an comply c with related legislation, and University policies and procedures Ensure that best practices and trends are explored and used in all communications and marketing efforts

Project Management 

  • Priority initiatives will from time to time need project management to deliver best results.  The communications coordinator will be responsible for developing and executing plans and often managing or collaborating with outside partners/vendors.

Work Study Supervision

  • Create job descriptions and responsible for the hiring of our works study students.
  • Supervise work study students and assure a great learning experience.  
  • Assign work study tasks and projects that align with and support the MIFE communications plan

Administrative Duties

  • Assist with collection of analytics for quarterly reporting

What You Have: 

Education 

  • University degree in business, marketing, or communications. Western graduate is an asset.

Experience 

  • 3+ years of experience managing marketing and communications, along with digital communications
  • Experience working with outside vendors and partners to develop and promote key messages and initiatives
  •  Experience managing students and/or volunteers is preferred. 

Assets:

  • Entrepreneurial experience a strong asset 
  • Experience working in a university environment 
  • Successful track record of media relations 
  • Graphic & Multimedia Design – including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere), Canva and Umbraco

  • Ability to handle diverse situations, multiple projects and rapidly changing priorities 
  • Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate events and activities 
  • Strong record of team work with the motivation and ability to work independently with little supervision 
  • Valid driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle, preferred 
  • Advanced skills with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Premiere 
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
  • Understanding of the role that entrepreneurship and innovation programs play in the engagement and development of all constituents

Location:

Position Type:

Full-time (35/hours a week) 3-year renewable contract.

Hybrid work opportunity.

Hiring Range

Based on the salary band for this role, candidates can expect to be offered a starting salary in the range of $55,900-$69,900. When determining salary, Ivey Business School considers the external market, candidate qualifications, as well as internal equity. Once in the role, successful candidates will have the opportunity to progress through the range and beyond the hiring range of the band, through annual increases.
