Project Manager, IT
 

JOB SUMMARY:

 Responsible for the overall planning, execution, management, change control and delivery of projects within the IT and Corporate Services area, following standard PM best practices – on time, within budget and of a high quality.  As well and in conjunction with functional experts, the individual will gather and document user and client requirements, provide ongoing project updates, manage project resources and assist with testing where required.  Build and maintain working relationships with team members, vendors and other departments involved in projects.

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

 Project Management

o   Manage the planning, execution, progress and completion (project lifecycle) of assigned IT projects.

o   Create and present accurate estimates of effort, costs and timescales for proposed projects and assist in prioritization.

o   Define Project Charter (e.g. project objectives, scope and deliverables) and validate alignment with business and system strategies.

o   Coordinate user testing, ensuring issues are resolved in a pragmatic and appropriate manner.

o   Ensure projects adhere to company project management methodologies and standards, including appropriate documentation and controls.

o   Secure and coordinate the necessary resources for a project by working with appropriate line managers including any vendor or third-party resources.

o   Act as the project lead, by being the primary liaison throughout the project life cycle ensuring client (internal/external) expectations are appropriately managed.

o   Identify, assign and monitor the completion of project tasks ensuring that performance meets or exceeds quality standards and project stakeholder’s expectations.

o   Provide team performance feedback to line managers when necessary.


Vendor Management

o   Assist and provide input into vendor negotiations that may include changes in scope or timelines with both internal and external stakeholders.

o   Lead reviews of requirements, designs, and timelines with relevant stakeholders to obtain agreement and sign-off of proposals.

o   Ensure vendors are meeting agreed upon timelines, contractual obligations and deliverables.

o   Manage day-to-day stakeholder and vendor relationships, resolve any concerns and escalate to Project Director when necessary.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of a college diploma/degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate should demonstrate the following attributes: proactive, detail oriented, task-driven and highly organized. The candidate will also possess highly refined communication and relationship-building skills. Previous experience with vendor negotiation and team facilitation is an asset. Ideally, the candidate will have experience with systems implementation and possess or be working towards their PMP designation. Lastly, the successful individual will have advanced skills in MS Office.
