Product Owner

Start.ca is currently seeking a highly motivated and results oriented Product Owner who wants to make an immediate impact. The Product Owner will work within the agile process and is a key authority for decisions regarding priority, business value, and functionality for all the work done by the agile development team.
The Product Owner possesses an in-depth knowledge of goals and desired objectives of the project.

What you will be doing:

Writing user stores and acceptance test criteria.
Balancing work-in-progress levels, backlog maintenance, and maintains Minimum Viable Product boundaries.
Ensuring that support teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility.
Using clear goals to communicate the project vision at the beginning of every release and sprint so that the team understands and is equipped to realize it.
Making business decisions and clearly communicating requirements through epics and stories so they are understood.
Representing, interfaces with and engaging the business user.
Tracking and communicating team progress outside the team.
Demonstrating the finished product to departmental liaisons and provides post-promotion support.
Facilitating project planning and reviews.
Managing injections into active sprints to minimize disruption to the development team members.
Reviewing deliverable and demonstrable product after every sprint and has the authority to accept or reject.
Maintaining standards for testing and progress visibility.
Planning product releases and facilitating demonstrations to stakeholders.
Other appropriate responsibilities relevant to the role today and the role as it may evolve.

The successful candidate has:

Degree/Diploma from college or university, or equivalent professional experience.
Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures.
Two or more years in a Product Owner role or equivalent experience.
Four or more years of agile project management experience.
Certified Software Product Owner or equivalent certification.
Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle.
In-depth knowledge of testing practices and techniques.
Ability to understand technical issues.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to motivate the team to reach their highest potential.
Exceptional time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
Ability to identify problems and situations, take appropriate action, implement solutions, or escalate as required.
Advanced negotiation skills with proven leadership ability.
Self-motivation and capable of managing multiple priorities and tasks as delegated.
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types.
Creativity and is efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems.
Collaborative approach in driving decisions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
