Director Technology Audit
 

Lead the cyber security audit practice to be a forward-thinking, agile information security audit team to deliver audit strategy, risk assessment, frameworks, method & techniques, and frameworks to deliver bold insights into Technology and Cyber risk management.

 

The Director Technology and Cybersecurity Audit will lead and define a clear target state for what the Information Security Audit practice looks like overall for Lifeco across the organization. The role will build new security audit practices and capabilities for Identity and Access Management, cloud risk, data security, software security, vulnerability management, supply chain security, cyber risk, analytics, breach handling and investigations, and security testing. This role is also accountable for “in the moment monitoring” of incident response for significant incidents, including cyber breach, data loss, outages, and other security events.

 

What you will do:

  • Execute and coordinate the Canada Life’s Information Security Audit program and overall capabilities of the team and approach in alignment with the Canada Life Internal Audit methodology. Determines what risk coverage and approaches are required and which capabilities will help enhance the organization’s technology & cyber audit risk assurance.
  • Assists with developing and implementing sound overall multiyear plans and annual tactical plans to achieve desired vision and objectives to deliver bold insights related to the Technology and Cybersecurity Audit program.
  • Proactively assess current state of cyber and information security risk management and controls across all of Canada Life’s systems, data, processes, applications, and technologies.
  • Identify gaps, challenges and/ or deficiencies in current state and engage stakeholders to refine current processes, develop new methodologies, and implement more secure practices organization wide while maintaining independence.
  • Serves as subject matter expect for global and regional Internal Audit and stakeholders related to cybersecurity matters.
  • Oversee and conduct audit planning globally and conduct audit engagements (including test approach, continuous assessments) to assess and provide opinion on technology and cyber risk management, processes and controls including high-profile security incidents, investigations and resolutions
  • Identify gaps, challenges and/ or deficiencies in current state and engage stakeholders to refine current processes, develop new methodologies, and implement more secure practices organization wide through SMART management action plans.
  • Leverage cyber and threat intelligence, monitor and interact with external environment to stay abreast of new threats and challenges and incorporate into continuous risk assessment and drive audit coverage and approach/ programs.
  • Manage a team of technology and cybersecurity audit specialists established in Canada,
  • Assists senior management with reporting of audit findings and overall risk opinion.

 

What you will bring:

 

  • 7-10 years’ experience in a similar role
  • University degree, preferably computer science related, or a combination of education and related experience
  • Certified in at least one of the following: CISA, CISM, CISSP, CRISC
  • Understanding of technology risk regulatory, best practices and industry best practice
  • Previous experience in cybersecurity and/or technology roles (Line 1) or Technology and Cybersecurity auditing
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships across a variety of areas
  • Constant learner and passion for security governance
  • Deep understanding of how large enterprise organizations work, within in a regulated environment
  • Ability to attract, retain and develop talent

 

The base salary for this position is between  $89,800 - $166,300 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
