Support Engineer (Junior / Intermediate) - Mechanical Systems
THE MECHANICAL SYSTEMS SUPPORT ENGINEER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING ENGINEERING SUPPORT TO PRODUCTION OPERATIONS, CONTINUING AIRWORTHINESS, AND AFTER SALES. THESE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE DISPOSITION OF NON-CONFORMANCES, ASSISTING IN OCCURANCE INVESTIGATIONS, PROVIDING TECHNICAL SUPPORT, AND PREPARING TYPE DESIGN CHANGES RELATED TO AIRCRAFT MECHANICAL, POWERPLANT, FUEL AND ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS.
Responsibilities
- Support the senior engineers as required
- For intermediate engineer, mentor junior support engineers as required
- Production support through the assessment of manufacturing difficulties including investigation and disposition of non-conformances
- Support After Sales activities by providing technical support
- Prepare type design and/or manufacturing process changes related to aircraft mechanical, propulsion and fuel systems to improve, quality, safety, and performance of aeronautical products
- Review engineering change requests and participate in the classification of type design changes
- Support the design change process through the creation of design data and performing testing as required
- Develop and review engineering, material, and process specifications
- Support Continuing Airworthiness in the review of publications and investigation of occurrences
- Participate in research and development activities as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Skills
- Relevant Aerospace Engineering experience (Junior <5yrs, Intermediate >5yrs)
- Experience performing type design changes to aeronautical products
- Familiar with FADEC engine control systems and software
- Understanding of aircraft controls, landing gear, powerplants, fuel and hydraulic systems
- Experience with CATIA V5, AutoCAD / DraftSight, and Solid Edge
- Proficiency in MS Office products and collaboration tools
- Excellent time management skills
- Works well within a team environment
- Capable of independent decision making
- Able to prioritize tasks based on company needs
- Knowledge of Airworthiness Manual Chapter 523 Canadian Aviation Regulations is an asset
- Professional Engineering Licence is an asset
- Private pilot license is an asset
Academic Requirements
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Aerospace and/or Mechanical Engineering
