Job Description
Assistant Financial Controller
(Full-time)Race Roster is an online event registration platform geared towards endurance events. We are looking for an assistant financial controller to join our growing and dynamic team. The ideal individual will be a detail-oriented self-starter who is able to learn quickly. The assistant financial controller will work directly with the financial controller and CFO to provide accurate and timely financial reporting to management, and to manage the day-to-day bookkeeping, payment reconciliation, and financial support responsibilities of the finance department.
Job responsibilities
- Supervising the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions of the organization
- Assist the financial controller in month end duties, including financial statement preparation, P+L analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, preparation of supporting schedules, etc.
- Assist the financial controller in preparation for annual audits by maintaining extensive and detailed supporting schedules, backup, etc.
- Working with the financial controller in establishing and maintaining internal controls necessary for fast-paced growth and scalability
- Preparation and timely filing of Canadian HST/QST/GST tax returns, US State Sales Tax Returns, Payroll Returns, etc.
- Assisting in the annual budgeting process, and supporting the update of the live operating budget throughout the year
- Ad-hoc research of accounting issues for compliance with appropriate accounting standards
- Providing client support for escalated customer service issues
Required knowledge
- 3-5 years of public accounting experience or equivalent
- CPA designation, or on track to completing the designation requirements
- Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises
- High-level Excel skills is a must
- Experience with Quickbooks Online is an asset
- Experience with Salesforce is an asset
- Substantial skills and knowledge of PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of US Sales Tax system is an asset

Experience requirements
- Post-secondary education
- 3-5 years of public accounting experience or equivalent
- CPA designation, or on track to completing the designation requirements
