Senior Business Systems Analyst (Data)

 

The Business Systems Analyst is accountable for providing IT related analysis, impacts and test activities for IC data technology projects.  They work with multiple internal and external teams supporting requirements development, performing impact analysis, creating detailed specifications, developing test strategy/plans and test cases for code/configuration validation as part projects and/or in the role of operational support.  In general, the work is focused in the area of data integration, dealing with data sourcing, cleansing, transformation and design for usage in BI/ data warehouse and analytics solutions.  The ideal candidate will have strong technical background and be able to provide leadership working in a collaborative teams with our external business unit partners. 

 

Key Accountabilities 

  • Work with other Systems/Business Analysts in Business Units, Data Scientists and IC Data technology team to deliver business/data requirements for the assigned projects, including non-functional requirements  
  • Support the development of BI specifications for operational and analytics consumption 
  • Negotiate with BA/data owners for specification definitions for data filtering, cleansing, transformation to provide "consistent" data interpretation across the enterprise including lineage 
  • Works with data in multiple forms and environments, includes structured and unstructured data, relational and non-relational environments 
  • Develop process, procedures, and metrics for data validation and acceptance. 
  • Review problems related to data, business reporting environment and liaise with technology partners for resolution.  
  • Completes impact analysis for operational changes for existing system components   
  • Work with enterprise wide data community to develop and document the best practices related to data management. 

 

Required Qualifications and Competencies  

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in IT solutions and delivery as a Business Analyst or Quality Analyst with a heavy focus in building data warehouses, and business intelligence projects 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration or Statistics is preferred. 
  • Strong domain experience working as a business analyst preferably in Insurance 
  • Has a solid understanding of General Business System Analysis, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Risk Management, Quality Assurance Processes, and foundations of Project Management. 
  • Data modeling and SQL (must) 
  • Operational experience 
  • Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing concepts (must) 
  • Use of BI/Advanced Analytics tools(optional) 
  • Support/Development of data extraction and integration 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, PowerBI, AI/ML (Optional) 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
