As a Senior Career Advisor, you support students in developing the skills and practices needed to navigate meaningful, life-long careers through delivery of comprehensive programming, individual coaching appointments, and special project work. Whether one-on-one or in a classroom of 75, you bring your dynamic personality to your work with students, covering everything from big picture career planning to tactical elements like their resume, interviewing skills, and navigating challenging conversations, ultimately contributing to their career success.

 You’re a strong collaborator, working closely with the Managers, Industry Career Advising to deepen your understanding of trends, best practices, career paths, etc. found within the core industries targeted by students. In addition to your work with students in-house, you apply your interviewing skills and knowledge of the MSc program to assess fit by conducting admissions interviews with prospective students.

What you’ll do:

Student Coaching 

Deliver consistent, value-added service to HBA and MSc students, through group and individual action-based career coaching appointments, utilizing executive coaching principles and aligning to CM messaging and frameworks.
Structure coaching appointments to understand HBA/MSc students’ goals, help define clear action plans based on target industry, and advise on overall career strategy and questions (networking, offers and negotiations, applications, etc.). 
Review, assess, and provide in-depth feedback on HBA/MSc students’ application documents based on CM best practices, including resume, cover letters, portfolios, etc.
Conduct mock interviews with HBA/MSc students to assess behavioural interviewing skills, providing feedback to elevate interview performance and prepare for recruiting.
Build strong relationships and rapport with in-house HBA and MSc students, being recognized as a credible source of recruitment and career strategy information, including knowledge of various industries and recruitment channels. 
Programming Facilitation 

Provide input and support on the creation and delivery of HBA and MSc CM programming and clinics.  
Teach CM formal programming to assigned HBA sections, with up to 75 students in class, building strong rapport and credibility through interactive content.  
Admission Interviews 

Conduct behavioural based admission interviews with prospective MSc candidates, assessing and scoring overall fit for the program and making a recommendation based on identified competencies.
Consult with the MSc Admissions team when needed, to share decision points around assessments and recommendations
Special Projects 

Own and support innovative and strategic initiatives in consultation with the Director, including market intelligence, student club consultation, support resources, research, surveys, and others as required, in support of the effort to deliver programming and services that align with and drive industry best practice.  
 What you have: 

Required Education and Experience:

You’ve successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree 
You have minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in a Human Resources, Coaching, Career Development, or executive search/recruitment role
Experience in the area of corporate recruitment and/or training & development is considered an asset
Skills and Abilities: 

Experience listening actively and using coaching/advising approaches and skills (preferably in a professional development or career development context) 
Proven presentation skills, with the ability to deliver interactive content in both large (up to 75) and small groups.
Track record of success as a team player – comfortable self-managing a diverse workload, but understands the necessity for team collaboration and input.
Demonstrated success in building credibility, managing relationships and proactively collaborating with a variety of stakeholders.
Creative and has a knack for coming up with new and efficient ways of doing things.
Resourceful, adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity; exhibits flexibility and openness to change in order to adapt to new approaches and to take on new assignments/technologies as they relate to program shifts 
Demonstrated ability to influence others and effectively manage through conflict and/or push back.
High degree of understanding, knowledge and sensitivity to various cultures as a repeated point of contact for both HBA and MSc students
Skilled problem solver with an ability to provide relevant recommendations in a timely manner.
Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with students
Proven ability to communicate (both written and verbal) knowledgeably, effectively and efficiently with multiple stakeholders. 
Understands importance of confidentiality and privacy legislation, always keeping in accordance with Western’s policies on Official Student Record Information Privacy Policy and FIPPA
Demonstrated understanding and interest in executive or career coaching principles is considered an asset.
Knowledge of career planning and development principles, along with knowledge of the North American business, job market and day to day trends is considered an asset

Location:

Position Type:

Full-time (35/hours a week) 3-year renewable contract.

Hiring Range

Based on the salary band for this role, candidates can expect to be offered a starting salary in the range of $63,800 - $79,700. When determining salary, Ivey Business School considers the external market, candidate qualifications, as well as internal equity. Once in the role, successful candidates will have the opportunity to progress through the range and beyond the hiring range of the band, through annual increases.
