About Us

Western Libraries (WL) provides the library and archival expertise and infrastructure, information resources, technology, people, and spaces required to cultivate and mobilize knowledge, and accelerate excellence in teaching, research and scholarship.

 

Responsibilities

The Library Ambassador, Social Media will develop, plan, star in, and edit videos for the Western Libraries social media accounts. 

Once a week they will meet with the Communications and Marketing Coordinator to share content ideas and check in on video progress.  

Occasionally, library ambassadors will represent Western Libraries at campus events or assist with in-person promotions. 

  

Qualifications  

 

Education:

Applicants must be a full-time undergraduate student at Western University (enrolled in minimum 3.5 courses) or a full-time graduate student.  Successful applicants must retain full-time student status for the duration of this appointment or be a student returning to full-time studies in the fall.

 

Experience: 

• Previous work experience in a similar role is preferred.

• Familiarity with social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok

• Personal or work experience filming and editing video using a Smartphone, and appearing on camera 

 

Skills, Abilities & Expertise: 

• Basic understanding of library terminology. 

• Written and verbal communication skills to express ideas clearly and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience.

• Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with a genuine customer service orientation.

• Reliable and dependable with the ability to consistently work an assigned schedule.

• Ability to follow processes and practices with high attention to detail.

• Demonstrates integrity and works in accordance with Western's policies and procedures.

• Computer skills with Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn and use new software programs as required.

• Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public.

• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize a fluctuating workload.

• Ability to be self-motivated while working independently or as a member of a team.

• Ability to work in a manner that is compliant with confidentiality requirements as applicable.
