Join our growing team as a Payroll and Accounting Associate!

As a member of our corporate team, you will be the main point of contact for employees who have questions surrounding payroll and expenses. You will also be the main point of contact for our service providers. We are a growing company and need someone to join our team who can adapt to our expanding team. We have an office in Canada and the US and we also have remote employees who work in various states and provinces, so keeping up to date on compliance in each area is paramount!

 

 

In this role you will be:

  • Processing semi-monthly payroll for both Canadian and US employees, including: salary changes, deductions, contributions and reconciliations for withholdings and benefits, records of employment, bonus programs calculation, etc.
  • Ensuring ongoing compliance with relevant payroll legislation
  • Accounts Payable responsibilities for both Canadian and US vendors, including: entering all vendor invoices/expenses into QuickBooks; processing vendor payments, processing employee expenses, monthly credit card reconciliations and payments, etc.
  • Accounts Receivable responsibilities, including: client invoicing, bank deposits, following up on past due invoices, etc.
  • Assisting the Director of Finance in the following areas:
    • Monthly HST, WSIB and payroll filings
    • General Ledger maintenance
    • Bank reconciliations
    • Intercompany reconciliations (including currency conversions)
    • Preparation of year-end financial documents
    • Processing annual W2’s and T4’s
    • Preparation and distribution of various accounting reports as required (including reports for the sales team)
  • General office administration responsibilities including ordering supplies, managing building services contractors
  • Additional duties as assigned
     

 

Knowledge and skills you need to do it:

 

  • Successful completion of Post-secondary education with focus on Accounting, Finance, Payroll or similar field or equivalent work experience
  • 2-3 years of Payroll experience; payroll designation is an asset
  • Working experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • A self-starter who is efficient, reliable, and detail-oriented
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once
  • Proficiency with Sage, QuickBooks Enterprise, Payroll systems and Microsoft Office suite (Excel)
  • Familiarity with CRM and Project Management systems
