Technology Risk Analyst

Job Description

The Technology Risk Analyst is part of the Global Corporate Technology organization and is responsible for IT risk management services for Canada Life.  He/she will report to the Technology Risk Manager and work closely with various stakeholders within the department, and across the organization, to help identify and manage risk requirements in a timely manner with the goal to reduce/control technology risks, which is expected by our customers, regulators and audit.

What you will do 

• Responsible for the Risk Management responsibilities for Global Corporate Technology, with the goal of managing and controlling risks that may negatively impact our company, customers, or reputation.
• Protect the stability, operability and availability of all Global Corporate systems; and preventing disruption to our systems from materializing, by effecting managing and controlling risk.
• Thorough understanding of our IT Risk, Controls, and Audit processes and procedures.
• Analysis and identification of gaps in our current IT policies and standards for our systems and documenting those risks and remediation plan, in the form of an exception or audit gap.
• Work closely with IT Risk, Audit, and various stakeholders through the Technology Risk Management processes
• Point of contact for tracking and reporting on status during the Exception and Audit processes and provide timely follow up as required on status of exceptions, audit actions and remediation plans.
• Identification and tracking of any new risks that materialize for our systems and working closely with IT Risk and Audit through the evidence and closure process for remediated exceptions and audit actions.
• Responsible for various technology risk reports and providing communication to stakeholders on outstanding risks that may impact their business.
• Resource will work closely in tools such as SharePoint, Service Now, Power BI, Confluence, JIRA, and Microsoft Office products. 
• Point of contact and subject matter expert for the department on technology risk and responsibility to support various stakeholders as required.

What you will bring 

• Graduated from post secondary education in an information technology or related field.
• 5+ years working experience in information technology.
• Firm knowledge and practical experience with IT methodologies, processes and practices.
• Ability to challenge the status quo when required on key technology risk standards, policies and controls.
• Positive attitude and comfortable working in the field which is ever changing and has demanding deadlines.
• Decision maker with the ability to problem solve, ask the right questions, and come to their own conclusions. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively to a non-technical audience. 
• Self-motivated team player who can work both independently and collaboratively in a virtual setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on completing tasks, with minimal oversight.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task, and prioritizing multiple competing priorities in a professional manner.
• Customer-focused, results-oriented and a risk management mind-set.
• Passionate about technology risk management, and the customer experience.
• Demonstrated high level of personal ownership, and collaborative team- work.
• Understanding of Information Technology Risk, Audit, and Compliance policies and procedures. 
• Experience in Technology Risk Management is considered an asset.
• Related professional certifications such as ISACA, CRISC, CISA, CISSP is considered an asset.
• Background in the Insurance or Banking Industry would be an asset.
