Location: Remote Canada

Reports to Title: UX/UI Manager

 

The Role:

The UX Designer will join the J.D. Power’s User Experience team, tasked to produce innovative digital strategies that deliver exceptional experiences for users while supporting business objectives and vision.  The ideal candidate works best in highly collaborative, cross-functional teams and interacts with multiple roles throughout the design process including Clients, Executives, Product Owners, Product Managers, Business Analysts, Architects, Engineering teams, Technical Writers and QA Analysts.  The UX Designer works across the user experience domain, including interaction design, usability research, user testing, information architecture, and visual design.

 

The Impact:

The UX/UI Design team is the center of excellence for user-centered design process within J.D. Power. The role centers on creating successful user experiences through research, feedback, analysis, testing and best practices. Additionally, the role will create mockups and concepts for products in the sales pipeline.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain UX/UI experiences for desktop, tablet, and/or mobile devices through wireframes, prototypes, design mock-ups, specifications, navigation maps and other design documents
  • Test proposed design solutions for usability and interpret results from research data to make recommendations on design direction.
  • Present and rationalize UX/UI designs to project key stakeholders, adapting your communication style to varied audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Review and iterate designs with peers in the User Experience (UX) Design team
  • Work closely with key stakeholders including Clients, Executives, Product Owners, Product Managers, Marketing, Business Analysts, Architects, Engineering teams, QA Analysts, Technical Writers and external partners to understand business/functional requirements and technical considerations
  • Work closely with Front-end developers to ensure intended experiences are carried through and meet quality industry standards
  • Provide project updates and flag risks to the project teams
  • Stay on top of the latest design and technology trends, best practices, 
  • and share those insights with team members
  • Support Sales & Marketing initiatives including print, web, mobile and multimedia presentations
  • Test and ideate feasible and effective creative strategies that address business and user objectives/goals
  • Responsible for making design decisions based on best practices, client feedback, and product knowledge.

  • Qualifications:

  • 4+ years’ experience with user-centered design principles, with a solid understanding of all aspects of client-side design including UI, graphics, layout and work-flow analysis
  • Strong grasp of UX Principles such as Information Architecture, Content Strategy,
    Human-Centered Design, Usability (Voice of the customer), and Visual Design
  • Proficiency with Axure RP Pro preferred or comparable UX tools.
  • Full working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, especially design related programs (photoshop, illustrator etc.)
  • Experience running usability studies and research to support design decisions
  • Comfortable orchestrating user groups and user testing in conjunction with generating mood-boards, storyboards, journey maps, task analysis and user flows
  • Solid understanding of the capabilities and limitations of web & mobile technologies
  • Knowledge of and ability to move easily between digital interactive design, creative design, and product design
  • Willingness and ability to successfully incorporate direction and feedback from multiple sources
  • Understanding of information architecture, the ability to take complex information and present it in a structured fashion
  • Effective communicator with the ability to rationalize assumptions and design decisions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of responsive design techniques for different form factors (desktop vs. mobile)
  • Ability to accurately estimate work so that it is delivered on time and on budget
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Expert knowledge of interface design and how it relates to user 
  • interaction, grid systems, branding, typography, color theory, iconography – and the ability to communicate these principles to clients and non-design staff
