Mechanical Designer

We are a local company but with global activities and partnerships. We operate in the Diagnostic Hearing business as one of four business areas within the Danish Demant Group. The entire group consists of more than 16,000 employees worldwide. Audioscan operates as an independent entity in Canada, with our own R&D, Production, Purchasing, Marketing and Support activities.
You will operate out of Dorchester at Audioscan which is one of our many global diagnostic brands. The other brands are placed in Denmark, UK, USA, and Germany. We sell our equipment in more than 100 countries through our own sales companies and external distributors.
Job Description
As a member of the Hardware Development Team, you will report to the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities:
· Design products, parts, and assemblies for a line of hearing instrument analyzers
· Design jigs and fixtures to support manufacturing processes
· Generate 2D and 3D models for concept evaluation
· Develop and build prototypes to test their function
· Generate detailed drawings, BOM's, and inspection test plans
· Communicate with subject matter experts and other team members for design input
· Collaborate with suppliers to establish requirements and tolerances
Experience and qualities:
· Creativity and desire to solve problems in a niche industry
· Injection molding and plastic related manufacturing experience an asset, but not a requirement
· Experience in acoustics and vibration a plus, but not a requirement
· Previous work experience with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD programs is beneficial
Educational Requirements
B.Eng/BASc/BESc or college degree in mechanical design
