Oracle Database Administrator

Position Description:

Oracle Database Administrator’s role is to implement and maintain production databases and provide support for specific applications implemented with Oracle. The Specialist, Oracle Database Administrator focuses on the physical design of the database and application data for custom applications.

Strategy & Planning:

• Work with application development team to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.

Operations:

• Patch, upgrade, and maintain Oracle databases
• Understand the needs and requirements of the applications using the databases and provide support for these applications including working with third parties.
• Coordinate multiple applications accessing the same database.
• Assist developers investigating and debugging applications.
• Create or support creation of required reports in response to business user needs.
• Work to ensure data quality and support audit requirements
• Provide guidance to team members
• Off hour support require
• Remote work flexibility available

Position Requirements:

Required Qualifications

• College diploma or university degree in computer science field
• Minimum 3-5 years of related Oracle DBA experience
• Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
• Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring, and supporting Oracle database servers
• Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience.
• Working knowledge of basic operations in Unix and Linux
• Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques.
• Project management or team experience.
• Strong technical documentation skills.
• Self-motivated, detail oriented and team oriented
• Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
• Proven customer service skills

 Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
• Experience with Oracle 12c, 18c and 19c databases
• Experience upgrading Oracle databases from 12c to 18c or 19c
• Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and Toad
