What Opportunity Awaits?
The Data Scientist’s role is to harness vast amounts of data to optimize business results. The incumbent will exercise their knowledge of statistical techniques and applications, and database analysis tools and techniques to develop strategic insights to drive business goals. The data scientist advances the state-of-the-art in how data is applied to solve problems within Libro and in our industry. As a subject matter expert, they provide expertise on mathematical and statistical concepts for the broader applied analytics teams (Business Intelligence, Insights & Research, and other stakeholders) and inspire the adoption of advanced analytics and data science across the organization.
What you will do - The Epic Human we are looking for will;
  • Identifying business problems that offer the greatest opportunities to the organization
  • Determines the correct data sets and variables
  • Collecting large sets of structured and unstructured data from disparate sources
  • Cleaning and validating the data to ensure accuracy, completement and uniformity
  • Devising and applying models and algorithms to mine the stores of big data
  • Develop/implement Machine Learning model validation methodologies and standards. Ensure that the validation methodologies and standards are in line with industry best practice or address regulatory and audit requirements and/or findings in a timely manner
  • Develop and evolve appropriate standards for Libro
  • Testing hypothesis and model outputs, ensuring Bias are removed
  • Analyze vendor and Libro source system data to identify patterns and trends
  • Interpret data to discover solutions and opportunities
  • Update models to eliminate degradation
What we are looking for - Could this be you?
 
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences (Focus in Social Statistics, Quantitative/Qualitative social research or Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics)
  • Master’s in Data Science is required
Experience & Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience Python Coding
  • 3+ years of T-SQL/PLSQL
  • 3+ years of experience working and collaboratively creating Azure cloud platform pipelines
  • 3+ years of implementing Machine Learning/AI models
  • 3+ years of Data Visualization experience in a PowerBi on prem/cloud environment
  • 3+ years of experience in identifying and creating models providing outputs of meaningful value to organizations
  • Extensive experience solving analytical problems using quantitative and qualitative approaches
  • Comfort manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources
  • Familiarity with relational, SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Expert knowledge of statistical analysis tools such as R, Matlab
  • Project management experience an asset
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy, ethics practices and laws
