IT Support Technician

All support techs have “IT”, but you’re the one who has “it”!

Due to Joydrop’s ongoing growth spurt, our studio’s hardware needs constant upgrades and maintenance. The IT Support Technician is responsible for the day-to-day resolution of issues relating to computer systems, peripherals, and software applications for in-office and remote employees. They are responsible for keeping inventory up to date, ensuring all software licenses are properly recorded, as well as keeping physical assets organized. They will also be responsible for facilities tasks that relate to the computing infrastructure, such as running network cables and interfacing with the building management.


Job Responsibilities 

  • Make new hire hardware purchases.

  • Select appropriate hardware components and assemble custom desktop computers.

  • Diagnose hardware issues, perform upgrades and replacements, and manage warranty repairs and returns. 

  • This will occasionally require travel to remote workers' locations in the area

  • Maintaining accurate hardware inventory, including stocking appropriate levels of spare components

  • Application purchases, including evaluating new software options

  • Diagnosing software issues, performing application installations and upgrades

  • Maintaining accurate software inventory, including ensuring license compliance

  • Account management and permissions in 3rd party cloud applications

  • Ensuring critical systems are backed up, and the backups periodically tested

  • Facilities work as needed, such as assembling desks, running network cables, securely installing wall-mounted monitors, and interfacing with building management over power, heating, and cooling issues

  • Documentation of all methods and procedures, and keeping IT documentation organized and up-to-date

  • Occasional work outside of normal business hours

  • Additional duties as required


Required Skills and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in computer-related area of study or 2+ years experience as a System Administrator or similar role

  • Strong knowledge of computer systems hardware

  • Experience building custom desktop computer systems

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Highly organized and able to prioritize workload with minimal supervision

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to consistently ensure a high level of customer satisfaction

  • Valid driver's license

  • Facilities or datacenter experience an asset
