JOB TITLE: Academic Department Assistant (contract) - Job Reference # 202407-07C

DESCRIPTION: 
The Academic Department Assistant will:

  • Provide administrative support to Department Chairs, as assigned, and their faculty members

  • Provide administrative support to Faculty Committees

  • Need to act in a professional manner with diplomacy, attention to detail, confidentiality and good judgement

  • Manages the daily operations of assigned academic units, provides a broad range of administrative support to the Chair(s) and Coordinator(s) including.

  • Coordinates full-time (KUCFA) and part-time (CUPE) hiring and monitoring processes; provides a broad range of administrative support to faculty.

  • Supports and facilitates non-course related aspects of experiential learning activities in collaboration with Academic Program Advisors and King’s Promise Coordinator, and King’s International.

  • In collaboration with College’s Communications and Media Relations Office, manages and maintains departmental web presence and social media channels

  • Responsible for supporting college committees and administrative activities as assigned by the Manager of Administrative Affairs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (unless identified as preferred):

The qualifications of the successful candidate will include:

 
  • College diploma with advanced administrative skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years of previous relevant experience

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) are required on a daily basis in working with students, faculty, college staff, administrators, professional officers, and counterparts from other campuses.

  • Constant interruptions, deadlines, a heavy workload and multiple demands are part of the daily routine.  Excellent organizational skills, time management, advanced administrative skills and flexibility are required.

  • As this position represents Department and the Chair(s) in relation to the administrative functions, the ability to interact effectively with a variety of constituents is important -- students, faculty, administrators, social workers in the community and other departments at King's and UWO.

TYPE OF JOB: Contract Full-time (35 hours per week) until December 10, 2025

EFFECTIVE DATE: To be determined.

SALARY RANGE: SSG 9 - $55,195 – $67,248 per annum, dependent on experience.
