DevOps Database Administrator (Intermediate)

Autodata Solutions is looking for an Intermediate DevOps Database Administrator to join their team!

Position Overview:

As a part of our DevOps team, the Database Administrator focuses on automating workload into repeatable and consistent processes, leveraging appropriate tools. Builds should be scripted as much as possible, and these scripts are managed in a source control system. This role must take control of the tools and process used to deploy this code, building a streamlined and reliable system that developers can use to push their changes in a controlled and rapid fashion. The DBA promotes teamwork between Development and Operations to ensure code is written well, and along agreed upon standards. This role acts as a mentor/guide to build stable and efficient database code during the development phase. The DBA ensures principals with data design, stewardship and acts as a data guardian.

Key Responsibilities:

• Works with Development resources in partnership to Codes, tests, and implements database solutions
• Coordinates physical changes to relational and non-relational databases
• Experience working with case tracking tools (i.e. JIRA)
• Designs logical and physical databases and reviews description of changes to database design to understand how changes to be made affect physical database (how data is stored in terms of physical characteristics, such as location, amount of space, and access method)
• Establishes physical database parameters, codes database objects/queries and specifies database identifiers to DBMS or guide others in coding best practices
• Specifies user access level for each segment of one or more data items, such as insert, replace, retrieve
• Tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to database
• Interact with developers to effectively explore, investigate and implement requirements as they apply to database technology
• Ensures that database systems are available, secure, and that production support procedures are well documented and leverages scripting and automation technologies to improve speed of delivery (i.e. GIT, Ansible)
• Other duties as required by the position

Qualifications:

• A degree or diploma in Computer Science
• 5+ years’ experience in MySQL, MS SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra
• Demonstrable expertise with performance tuning, replication and data warehousing
• Experience with Data modeling tools
• Experience with developing stored procedures/queries/triggers/views etc. using various SQL scripting languages
• High availability experience with SQL Server Always On Availability Groups (AOAG), MySQL replication, Oracle
• Expertise with Windows/Linux Operating Systems and cloud hosting providers (Azure/AWS etc.)
• Automation and configuration management tools
• Backup and recovery
• Security and Monitoring applications
• Knowledge of development process, tools and technologies
