Building a World-Class, Diverse and Inclusive Technology Team at TD
Canadian Banking and Corporate Technology HR team is responsible for the Human Resources portfolio of applications. The team is located in Toronto, Mississauga, and London. The team delivers and supports HR applications including WorkDay HCM (HR), PeopleSoft HCM (Payroll, Benefits, Time & Labor, Pension), PeopleSoft CRM (HR Helpdesk), and Talent Management (LMS – Sumtotal, P3 – SAP, Onboarding – Infinite). The portfolio includes TD developed applications, purchased solutions hosted in-house (such as PeopleSoft), SaaS solutions (such as WorkDay) as well as integrated third party solutions (such as Sumtotal and SAP) hosted with various vendors.
We’re looking for someone who’s eager to grow and learn across a broad mix of mainframe and distributed platforms. If you’re looking to learn something new, this role is a great opportunity for an experienced mainframe developer who’s looking to make a jump into the world of distributed platforms.

Job Description
About This Role
Define and Develop Technology Solutions and Service Clients
- Design and develop quality solutions for program/system issues consistent with project objectives and client requirements, and follow technology architecture standards
- Conduct program/ system research, analysis, design and problem resolution
- Ensure defect free programming by testing and debugging using available/appropriate tools and participate in reviewing peer coding
- Participate in identifying and recommending development/testing solutions/tools in support of project objectives
- Develop, implement, maintain and improve solutions/processes that maximize system availability, efficiency/ effectiveness and minimize/prevent problems/ issues
- Adhere to existing processes/standards, technology architecture, risk and production capacity guidelines and objectives; plan, monitor, test and escalate issues as required
- Work with the architecture group to ensure good architectural design and raise issues as they develop through the project lifecycle in a timely manner
Deploy, Maintain and Support Technology Solutions
- Deliver effective and efficient solutions by meeting key project milestones and overall project deliverables on time, within budget, and adhering to development and quality standards
- Conduct pre and post implementation activities ensuring project deliverables are met and communicated to Project Management
- Maintain a proficient knowledge of system development methodologies and system analysis principles and apply learning to business solutions
- Continuously enhance knowledge/expertise in own area and keep current with leading-edge technologies trends/developments and develop expertise in TD services, applications, infrastructure, analytical tools and techniques that can contribute to effective solution development/delivery
- May perform testing according to test plans, monitor and report on results, and work with others on problem resolution
Develop & Manage the Team/Teamwork
- Work effectively as a team, supporting other members of the team in achieving project/business objectives and providing client services
- Support a positive work environment that promotes customer service, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest
- May lead and provide oversight/direction of junior developers and contractors for test reviews/walkthroughs, code reviews, etc.
- Participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business units

Specific Educational Requirements/Accreditations
- University or college or equivalent work experience
- Candidates who do not meet the education requirements but have extensive experience in Application Development will be considered
Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience
- Experience with developing and supporting PeopleSoft HCM modules including HR, Payroll, Benefits Administration, Time and Labour, and Self Service (preferably PS9.2 or better)
- Expert technical knowledge and experience with People Tools (8.57 or better), People Code, Application Engine, SQR, Component Interface, XML Publisher, PS security, workflow, SQL, and PS Query.
- Proficient in mainframe development using COBOL, JCL, DB2, ISPF in an IBM z/OS environment.
- Experience with developing and supporting Workday integrations and connectors would be an asset.
- Works independently and often autonomously in the development and support of applications.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
