About the Role

The Senior Back End Software Developer role is focused on delivering high quality code and scalable system architectures. You are self-motivated with a high attention to detail and you will be primarily responsible for code review. You will also train and mentor Junior and Intermediate Software Developers to ensure the highest level of efficiency is achieved across the team. You are well-versed in current and emerging web technologies as well as software development best practices. You are diligent, creative, an excellent communicator and problem solver. You thrive under pressure and take pride and ownership in your work.

Responsibilities

• Write clean, concise code to maintain and improve the performance of our existing software systems.
• Develop, implement, and test large sized feature requests and participate in product feature discovery.
• Perform automated testing to ensure proper functionality of our software systems.
• Perform code reviews on a frequent basis and conduct testing to ensure software is of the highest quality.
• Detect bugs and other complex errors within code and apply fixes in an efficient manner.
• Work to achieve sprint targets against fixed deadlines, changing requirements and/or priorities.
• Participate in daily team stand-ups, report on progress and setbacks, and provide advice and/or constructive feedback to team members.
• Communicate with members of several business groups including Product Management, Sales, and Customer Success.
• Train, mentor and motivate team members to deliver best-in-class software systems.
• Act as a platform expert, stay up to date with new or upcoming developments, and educate team members on the use and functionality of our systems.
• Research and maintain knowledge of current and emerging web technologies and development best practices.
• Participate in product feature discovery.
• Document and maintain software functionality.
• Create and/or update software development processes and system documentation.

Job Requirements

• Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of work experience as a Software Developer.
• Proficient in web client technologies, such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Proficient in the following: Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, Node or Python.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and mentoring experience.
• Dedicated team-player and outstanding role model to Junior Software Developers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to problem solve quickly and adapt to change.
• Manages time extremely well.
• Experienced in performing code reviews, as well as testing and debugging.
