Responsibilities

• Rapidly iterate on web-based projects in a cross-functional team setting
• Evaluate and spec out new product development opportunities
• Research and advise on technologies and improvements
• Act as a team lead for complex technical projects and be responsible for developing estimates and technical requirements
• Design and develop user interface, backend functions and integration points 
• Co-operative work in a fast paced environment
• Mentor junior web developers on industry best practices

Skills Required

• Experience in the development of community, marketplace, video/multimedia sites, or other web applications
• Experience creating web applications on a full-stack basis (highly preferred)
• Expertise with Javascript (REACT, Node.js, jQuery), CSS/LESS, XML, JSON, AJAX and API development
• Expertise with PHP and Microservices architecture
• Background in developing solutions in Cloud environment preferably in AWS.
• Strong grasp of security principles for application development (OWASP etc.)
• Extensive familiarity with responsive UI, cross-browser compatibility and general web standards
• Knowledge of social media, social networking, and modern web apps 
• A strong understanding of software engineering and computer science fundamentals
• Strong problem solving skills in data structures, algorithms, and optimization
• Experience working with relational databases and/or key-value stores
• Interest in developing scalable, efficient solutions and distributed systems
• Excellent presentation and communication skills

Background Requirements 

• 3+ years experience in database-driven web site development 
• BS or MS in Computer Science, Diploma in Web Development  or equivalent work experience

Location

• The Voices.com office is located in London, ON; however, remote work options are available
• There is a requirement of minimum 1 day in office per week and a requirement of the candidate living 2-3 hours from London, ON
