Director, Technology Delivery
 

The Advisory Network and Customer Experience Portfolio team within Individual Customer Technology is seeking a Director, Technical Delivery to lead the delivery of key initiatives across the portfolio to ensure end to end tech. delivery oversight and leadership. This role is a match for you if you are passionate about leading a team to deliver high quality software in a dynamic environment, while leading major initiatives and programs in partnership with business and program delivery partners.

 

Reporting to the AVP, Advisory Network and Customer Experience, Individual Customer Technology, the Director, Technical Delivery applies their advanced knowledge and experience in managing large and complex projects and teams in the Individual Customer Technology Division. This role is expected to have an in depth understanding of the need that the strategic project is trying to fulfill. This role applies their advanced, specialized knowledge to work on strategic, complex, ambiguous programs that are typically long term with substantial business impact and involves overseeing technical leadership across multiple initiatives. They are responsible for keeping abreast of industry changes, developments, and various delivery standards of practice, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement of delivery practices.

 

What you will do:

  • Lead technology solutions and deliveries. large multi-year program, working with business unit and technology leaders, cross functional teams, vendor partners, and external parties to ensure projects are well-defined, planned, measured, and delivered.
  • Articulate technology opportunities and constraints to support development of the program plan and maintain a deep understanding of business partner needs and wants.
  • Work with counterparts in the organization to understand the customer and internal client experiences relative to target state; determine root causes of unnecessary efforts in those experiences and design technology-based solutions.
  • Develop and maintain strong, mutually beneficial working relationships with multiple vendor partners.
  • Ensure leaders, employees and vendors work together to drive performance and that high expectations are delivered within the values of the organization with a proper sense of urgency.
  • Oversee development of integrated project plans demonstrating strong financial and project acumen (including cost estimates, budget, resourcing requirements), applying appropriate estimation models, refining, and managing performance against them, and customizing project planning and delivery methods to suit the project.
  • Engage and collaborate with governance stakeholders to ensure compliance of product towards corporate risk profile and standards and organizational governance processes.
  • Be a visible change agent, a champion of diversity, equity & inclusion, and a trusted advisor. 

What you will bring:

  • You have a strategic mindset focused on innovation and the ability to utilize and implement best practices, as well as creating new ways of working that ensure reliable development and operations.
  • Ideal experience for role is 5+ years as a technology leader, 10+ years in technology roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading delivery teams in complex technology and business delivery environments with a variety of systems, preferably in financial services/insurance.
  • Prior experience in senior Project/Program/Portfolio management roles with a focus in vendor management and partnership skills to meet quality, cost, and performance goals.
  • Proven track-record of successfully delivering large complex programs with significant technology enablement and have an appreciation for the magnitude and complexity.
  • Bachelor Computer Science/Software Engineering or Business degree would be beneficial.
  • Demonstrated strong stakeholder management, direct and indirect people leadership and coaching teams with customer centric understanding, striving for service excellence and outward focus.
  • Ability to rapidly acquire new knowledge and skills and apply creative thinking to solve problems, while understanding the organization’s vision, purpose and values.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze information and make good decisions or recommendations in ambiguous or difficult situations.
  • Possess strong entrepreneurial skills with a bias to delivering business outcomes, forging strong business partnerships, effectively managing risk, managing scope change as an opportunity to deliver greater value, and making value-oriented decisions.
  • Ideal candidate has experience working in financial services industry with strong tech. delivery and program management background and has curiosity and aptitude of keeping up with technology trends.
  • Any experience with Wealth management (MFDA or IIROC), Insurance distribution or knowledge of insurance products would be an asset.
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communications skills.
  • You have a strong knowledge of modern technology pattern and Dev/Sec/Ops experience
