Compensation & Benefits Director
 

Reporting into the AVP, HR Operations, the Compensation and Benefits Director will work closely with the HR, Finance and Sales Operations teams to ensure the benefit programs and compensation plans are adding value to the employee experience. The selected candidate will become an expert in all forms of variable compensation and be able to explain complex topics to employees and leaders. They will also manage benefit plans for 4 countries and growing.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Compensation (60%)

  • Researching, creating and maintaining variable compensation plans and targets for a variety of roles.
  • Communicating and explaining complex plans and terms to employees and leaders in understandable terms.
  • Processing and tracking OTE (On Target Earning) plans for employees and leaders.
  • Collaborating with Finance and Sales Operations teams to manage the compensation processes.
  • Creating variable compensation plan outlines for new hires to help them understand their compensation structure.
  • Assisting with processing bonus/commission payments in collaboration with Payroll and Sales Operations teams.
  • Establishing and maintaining wage bands for all levels of the organization.
  • Assisting with the annual merit increase process and reporting.
  • Aiding employees and payroll with RRSP matching calculations and answering employee questions.
  • Creating and providing training and communication to employees around different compensation plans and programs.
  • Setting up the compensation module in our HRIS system (UKG) and link to external compensation systems.
  • Assist in market research and compensation change management.
  • Compensation issue investigation and reconciliations.

Benefits (40%)

  • Conducting all necessary steps for annual benefit renewals for Canada, US, UK, and Australia.
  • Plan and execute the open enrolment process for employee group benefits plans.
  • Researching and implementing benefit programs for UK and future countries.
  • Researching and implementing new types of benefit programs as required.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or other related fields.
  • 5-7 years experience working on a human resource or compensation team.
  • Experience working with an HRIS, preferably UKG.
  • Extensive knowledge on variable compensation plans.
  • Experience with benefit design, delivery, and systems.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong benefits industry and market knowledge.
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal laws pertinent to benefit administration.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Superior analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
