ABOUT THIS POSITION

Digital Extremes is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our team. Working under the direction of the Controller, the Senior Payroll Specialist is accountable for all aspects of payroll. Your responsibilities will include accurate and timely processing of payroll for Canadian and US employees, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, and achieving operational excellence through process and workflow management. Integrity and excellent attention to detail are crucial for this role. The ideal candidate will also have a strong work ethic, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and is comfortable responding to shifting demands in a challenging and fast paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Administration of biweekly payroll, including the accurate processing of new hires, taxable benefits, entitlements, leaves, terminations, etc.
Prepare/review financial journal entries
Reconcile payroll accounts and balance by resolving any discrepancies
Assist with reconciling and administrating various employee benefits or programs, as needed
Ensure compliance with existing and new regulations and legislation in Canada and the US, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on any action needed
Responding to both internal and external inquiries, audits and/or requests for data by producing well organized reports or other documentation
Oversee year-end requirements including T4 and W2 filings
Review, implement, and seek to continually improve payroll processes and procedures, recommending new approaches to establish best practices
Develop payroll documentation, files, and records for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail
Assist in the preparation of payroll-related tax credit applications
Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential
Other duties as required
REQUIREMENTS
5+ years of experience in a similar role
PCP certification and a degree or diploma in a related field
Experience managing payroll using Ceridian Dayforce system, advanced Excel skills
Good knowledge of accounting and journal entries preferred
Knowledge and experience with U.S. payroll is an asset
Well-organized and highly detail oriented
Ability to work independently, using sound judgement and under strict deadlines.
Excellent problem-solving skills and proven ability to take initiative
Proven track record of process improvements or implementations
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
