About Us

The University Advancement division plays a leading role in strengthening awareness of and support for the University’s mission and goals by leading alumni relations and fundraising efforts across campus and beyond. All departments within the Division build enduring alumni and public trust through understanding and support for Western University in a coordinated campus-wide effort that results in the engagement and funding needed to make an impact. There are 3 departments within the Division – Departments of Development, Alumni Relations and Advancement Operations.

The Advancement Operations department is a partner in the University Advancement division in the areas of constituent database and technology services, prospect management and pipeline, prospect research, data analytics and data storytelling, gift and pledge management, records and document management, and financial reconciliation and reporting.  In addition, we provide support to the annual planning process as well as budget management, human resources, employee engagement and facilities support for University Advancement.

Responsibilities

The Technology Training Specialist will work to maximize the return on investment of applications software, by optimizing the understanding, consistency of use, adoption, data integrity and end-user satisfaction related to the applications (e.g., Blackbaud Customer Relationship Management (BBCRM)).  The Technology Training Specialist will create and deliver focused training to centralized and decentralized team members who support development and alumni engagement efforts across campus, related to applications software and will identify and assess opportunities for continuous improvement, recommending enhancements to practices, policies, and procedures as required to ensure the increased effectiveness and adoption of applications software.  Additionally, the role will advocate for the applications software within the University and will champion and provide guidance regarding best practices that accelerate end-user adoption and ensure the applications software capabilities fulfil business needs.  The Specialist will help to transform the staff experience related to the system, improve end-user satisfaction, maximize business performance and foster engagement with all applications software used by University Advancement. 

Qualifications

Education:
-   Undergraduate Degree
-   Training in Adult Learning Principles, Education or Instructional/Educational Technology preferred

Experience:
-   Experience with the design and delivery of practical and engaging training programs and resources
-   Experience providing training related to application technology software preferred
-   Experience developing procedural documentation preferred
-   Experience developing training videos preferred
-   Experience with a Learning Management System preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   Verbal communication skills to translate information into easily understood terms, summarize information, and provide a rationale for action
-   Communication skills to write clearly, and adapt communication style and content for intended audiences in a professional manner
-   Demonstrated systems thinking and assessments skills, and the ability to identify and design appropriate interventions creatively with a collaborative approach
-   Strong presentation skills, large and small group facilitation skills, with an ability to effectively provide information to improve organizational results
-   Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
-   Ability to discern needs and expectations in order to provide accurate and appropriate guidance and support
-   Strong record of teamwork, with an ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve department goals
-   Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office and software and technology related to facilitation, training and development
-   Ability to apply critical thinking to evaluate information and make appropriate decisions or recommendations
-   Customer service skills with a desire to achieve results in a professional and timely manner
-   Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
-   Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work, adapting readily and effectively to changing priorities and demands
