We are looking for a Senior Data Governance Analyst.

 

Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Toronto, London, Winnipeg. 

 

Role Description

Our data aspiration is to unlock the power of connected data to deliver continuous value for our customers, our partners, and our company with trust and integrity. The position is central to our ability to do so. As the Senior Data Governance Analyst you will lead the charge in implementing change to meet new legislative requirements.  By leveraging your skills in process analysis and refinement as well as communication you will work as part of the Canada Data Team to lead the charge of Digital Charter compliance.

 

What you will do 

  • Work in partnership with our business and oversight partners to deliver on strategic data governance initiatives.
  • Spearhead and perform the assessment of Canada Life processes and develop a plan to meet new legislative challenges (Digital Charter) while ensuring we can do best by our customers and meet our business obligations.
  • Work with established business area contacts to ensure implementation of necessary process changes.
  • Work in tandem with various areas of the company to move us forward on Digital Charter compliance.
  • Teach business users how to utilize data within the bounds of established policies, standards and existing controls while keeping an emphasis on advancing our company’s ability to innovate with data.
  • Work closely with oversight partners (Legal, Compliance and Security) to gather inputs to shape Digital Charter Compliance planning and work.
  • Support Data Owners in their decision making related to data utilization in accordance with new Digital Charter requirements.
  • Loves teamwork and collaboration: collaborates on a daily basis with the data team members, business contacts and oversight partners.
  • Open to learning and sharing: excited to share learnings with others across the company, including senior leadership and community of practice participation.
  • Recommend improvements to data governance practices across our company.
  • Has a love of data and clearly sees how it’s managed usage can move our Company forward.

 

 

What you will bring 

  • 5+ years of applied privacy or data governance
  • Certification in any or any combination of: data management, law, privacy, Library and Information Science or Records Management an asset
  • Experience in process analysis and process refinement
  • Expert in Microsoft products (PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Experience in financial services and insurance is an asset
  • Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills
  • Confidence and aptitude in communications with senior management
  • Ability to lead and influence a group through change
  • Strong organization skills
  • Agile, practical, customer service oriented mindset (doesn’t over complicate processes)
  • Generally curious and excited to learn new things
