Position Overview

ASICS Apps is a global company consisting of entities with operations in Oceania, Europe, and North America. As the Vice President (VP) of Finance for ASICS Apps you will play a critical role by overseeing all financial activities, strategic planning, and financial analysis to support the company’s objectives and drive sustainable growth. You will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and executive team to drive the financial strategy of the company, such as expansion, compliance, and analysis of our financial reports. This position requires flexibility as we respond to new business and customer requirements, while being able to quickly adapt to new strategies and priorities as they evolve.

 

This position is open to internal and external candidates.

 

Work Location

The successful candidate for this role will be a hybrid employee (flexibility to work in the office or from home at a location within 75 km from the London, ON office).

Job Responsibilities

Financial Planning, Reporting and Analysis:

  • Develop and oversee comprehensive financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning to support decision making processes and resource allocation.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, providing actionable insights to executive leadership.
  • Drive financial modeling to support strategic initiatives, new product launches, and business expansion efforts.
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the executive team and board of directors, highlighting key performance metrics and financial health.
  • Work closely with People Operations to ensure all departments are aligned with the overall strategic and financial plans.

 

Finance, Tax and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant global financial regulations, including General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other industry-specific requirements.
  • Oversee tax planning and compliance activities, including income tax, sales tax, transfer pricing and other statutory filings.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in financial, tax compliance and regulatory requirements.

 

Financial Risk Management:

  • Assess financial risks facing the company, including foreign exchange considerations, and develop strategies to mitigate those risks while maximizing opportunities for growth and profitability.
  • Collaborate with other functional areas, such as risk management, legal, and compliance, to identify and address enterprise-wide risks.
  • Monitor key financial risk indicators and escalate issues to the executive team as necessary.

 

Strategic Financial Management:

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with company goals and objectives and processes.
  • Evaluate capital allocation decisions, investment opportunities, and merger and acquisition (M&A) activities to maximize value and accelerate growth.
  • Provide strategic guidance on pricing strategies, revenue recognition, and cost optimization initiatives to drive profitability.

 

Continuous Improvement and Education:

  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial compliance processes.
  • Provide ongoing education and training to finance team members and other stakeholders to ensure awareness of compliance obligations and responsibilities.

 

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and develop finance professionals, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and capabilities.
  • Establish clear goals, objectives, and performance metrics to evaluate team performance and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.


Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership, offering financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making and business planning.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, Product, Development and Operations to drive alignment and optimize financial performance.
  • Cultivate relationships with business leaders across the ASICS business to maintain transparency and credibility.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in financial leadership roles within the technology sector or other fast paced industry.
  • Deep understanding of Software as a Service (SaaS) business models, subscription-based revenue recognition, and recurring revenue streams.
  • Experience managing foreign currencies, taxes, and transfer pricing.
  • Strong proficiency in financial analysis, modeling, and forecasting techniques.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanor.
  • Meaningfully participate in diversity and inclusion initiatives across the ASICS Apps teams

 

Bonus Education and Experience

  • Experience using Sage Accounting Software
  • Experience in the financial technology sector.

The successful candidate for this role will become an employee of Race Roster North America Corporation (doing business as ASICS Apps Canada), a subsidiary of ASICS Corporation, a Japanese multinational corporation. Race Roster was founded in London, Ontario in 2011.
