Marketing Specialist

Start.ca is seeking a dynamic, creative individual to join our Marketing Team. The Marketing Specialist is responsible for supporting the development and management of marketing campaigns, helping to develop creative materials for marketing campaigns, and analyzing the effectiveness of those campaigns. The Marketing Specialist will also support and implement social, experiential, and traditional marketing strategies in order to generate brand awareness and sales leads. Supporting product needs by researching the market, analyzing trends to help define the organization's marketing strategy, and providing advice as to how to best reach the target market, is essential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Execution of a variety of marketing initiatives including social media, contests, digital and print advertisements, merchandising, signage, website updates, email marketing, direct mail, word of mouth campaigns, SEO, NPS, PR opportunities, etc.
Collaborate with other internal teams (e.g., product and sales) to develop and monitor strategic marketing initiatives.
Analyze and report on the performance and efficiency of campaigns.
Conduct market research and analyze trends to identify new marketing opportunities.
Develop and create marketing materials, such as sales and product collateral, and ensure brand guidelines are met.
Write, proofread, and edit creative and technical content across different mediums.
Work with external agencies and vendors to execute marketing programs.
Prepare and maintain project briefs, schedules, key results and summaries, to deliver projects on cost, on quality and on time.
Identify and ideate programs, promotions and activations to convert customers at different stages of the customer journey.
Promote brand awareness through marketing efforts.
Collect, diagnose and leverage competitive insights.
Coordinate with vendors with such aspects as contracts, price negotiations, production and timing, etc.
Embrace continuous improvement, to identify gaps in existing policies, to create/update and manage procedures.
Solutions oriented mindset to address inquiries promptly and effectively.
Proactively seek out solutions using organizational documentation and standardized formats, using sound judgment.
Work collaboratively with other departments to accomplish set goals.
Build trusting relationships with colleagues, vendors and community partners.
Provide support and guidance to fellow team members to help solve marketing issues.
Exceptional written, verbal and visual communication techniques for both business-to-business, business-to- customer and internal correspondence.
Develop content and presentations that effectively communicate Start.ca’s branding and messaging.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Degree/Diploma in Marketing, or related program of study, or equivalent experience.
4-9 years of experience in a Marketing role, with project management knowledge an asset. 
Strong communicator with the ability to connect, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in marketing with all relevant social media (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.). 
Strong presentation, negotiation, & planning skills.
Able to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and be flexible when priorities shift.
Strong knowledge of various marketing and analytics tools such as HubSpot, Google Analytics, CRM systems, etc. and content management systems
Able to work flexible hours as needed (particularly at event time).
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience using analytical software.
Experience in the ISP industry a strong asset.
Valid G level driver’s license and able to provide a driver’s abstract is an asset.
