The Web Developer Analyst works in coordination with members of the Housing & Ancillary Services’ Web Team, and under the supervision of the Manager of Software Development to design, analyze, code, test, implement, secure, and maintain web and mobile-based applications, content management systems (CMS), and information systems.  The Web Developer Analyst provides project leadership on many new and existing programming projects, including participating in the business analysis and project management over small and medium scope web, CMS and mobile-based projects. The Web Developer Analyst provides recommendations to the Manager of Software Development regarding the planning and delivery of all aspects of web services that target a wide range of audiences, including staff, faculty, students, prospective students and their families, the London community, and fellow education institutions.  In addition, the Web Developer Analyst will provide development expertise within the team, offering second-level support for many of these applications, and providing guidance to programmers to ensure adherence to development, programming, and security standards.  The Web Developer Analyst is also responsible for conducting continuous research, analysis, and identification of development trends, and will promote these, and other informative resources to the team.  Each member of the Housing and Ancillary Services Information Technology (HASIT) team is committed to providing a safe, reliable, and secure computing and mobile environment for administrative staff.

Qualifications

Education:
-   University degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent
-   Professional certification/designation in project management, business analysis, software engineering, or related practice is preferred


Experience:
-   5 years' web application programming and CMS development experience in a business environment
-   5 years' database design and administration in a business environment
-   2 years' software architecture and design
-   2 years' project management, business analysis, and client management experience
-   2 years' client management or customer service
Preferred Experience:  
-   Mobile application development 
-   Drupal development experience in a business environment
-   Business acumen of support services in a higher education environment


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   Extensive technical knowledge in one area of support or development, with a working knowledge in several other specializations which may include: testing methodologies, data security and privacy, reporting and analytics, mobile technologies, e-commerce, network administration, technical writing, project management, and business analysis
-   Demonstrated knowledge of web and mobile design, object-oriented programming, and user experience (UX) best practices
-   Intermediate level of expertise developing in PHP and Drupal 
-   Proficient in the use of software development tools, including integrated development environments (IDE), graphic editors and version control software:
   -   Developer IDE: Sublime text, Eclipse, NetBeans, Brackets, Atom, PhpStorm
   -   Deployment: Beanstalk, Larvel Forge, Buddy, Docker
   -   Graphic tools: Photoshop
   -   Project management and version control tools: Jira, Confluence, Git
-   Ability to implement and integrate of multiple web technologies, including programming languages, application programming interfaces (APIs), and development standards: symphony, PHP, HTML 5.0, XML, JSON, Cascading Style Sheets, Javascript (Babel, LiveScript, Typescript), Ajax, JQuery, Angular, React, Vue, Bootstrap, W3C Standards, REST, SQL
-   Ability to model and document software: class diagrams, entity-relationship diagrams, use cases, code, algorithms, end-user manuals
-   Proven ability to design and implement relational databases
-   Demonstrated understanding of usability principles and ability to create easy to use, intuitive application interfaces (UI) for the end-user
-   Ability to integrate network technologies to support a web development environment
-   Demonstrated knowledge of data security and privacy best practices
-   Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with technical and non-technical users
-   Ability to assist others in solving complex problems, and provide guidance, support and feedback in a way that is positively received
