Information Systems (IS) Database Administrator

The Information Systems Database Administrator (IS DBA) is responsible to the IS Director for the design, implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems. Their main goal is to ensure the availability and consistent performance of various corporate applications.

Accountabilities

• Manage SQL Server databases 
• Configure and maintain database servers and processes
• Monitor system's health and performance
• Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability and security
• Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time
• Provide data extraction, transformation, and loading guidance and assistance
• Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
• Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement
• Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems
• Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in a related discipline (Computer Science, Engineering) or equivalent experience
• Outstanding communication skills required (written and verbal)
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required
• 3 plus years of experience as a SQL Server DBA required
• 3 plus years of experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO)
• 3 plus years of experience with backups, restores and recovery models
• 3 plus years of hands-on experience with virtualized server environments
• 3 plus years of experience of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
• 3 plus years of experience with Windows server, including Active Directory
• Experience with ERP and related systems in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Experience with DBS or a similar business improvement system preferred
• DBA and Data Analyst certifications a plus
