Facilities Management is responsible for the planning, development, engineering, construction, operation, maintenance and stewardship of all the buildings, infrastructure, sites and services within Western’s campus community. FM departments include the AVP’s office, Facilities Development & Engineering, Power Plant, Business Operations, Sustainability, Building Services, Facilities Operations and Parking & Visitor Services. Our integrated team provides exceptional service in creating and maintaining Western’s facilities and in serving the community.
Responsibilities
The Operations Analyst will be responsible for the creation, collection and analysis of data related to operational activities in Facilities Management (“FM”). Reporting to the Director, Business Operations, the Operations Analyst will create and utilize data to identify trends and increase opportunities for operational enhancements and efficiencies that supports FM directly as a whole or directly within specific sub-units. As a shared resource across FM, the Operations Analyst will assist in the coordination of special projects and collaborates with leaders, providing data to support operational decision making and the delivery of highly efficient, client-focused and responsive services.
Qualifications
Education:
- Undergraduate degree
- Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Science, Data Science, Human Resources is preferred
Experience:
- 2 years’ experience in data analysis and reporting including working with large data sets, data visualization, and statistical measures
- Previous experience with project management
- Previous work experience in large, unionized environment is preferred
- Developing and implementing data analyses, data collection systems, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and database software
- Knowledge of key statistical concepts and methods essential to finding structure in data
- Knowledge of diverse methodologies to get insight from the data
- Knowledge of project management tools and methods
- Familiar with best practices in maintaining sensitive and confidential data
- Ability to analyze business risk and recommend improvements in processes
- Ability to deal with data anomalies such as missing values, outliers, unbalanced data. and data normalization
- Ability to produce concise and accessible analysis of complex data through the effective use of charts and tables
- Attention to detail with an ability to retrieve, analyze, and synthesize sizable amounts of data while ensuring that information is accurate and comprehensive
- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes, and support work beyond one's own unit
- Verbal communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
- Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful, and diplomatic manner
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence dealing with all levels of an organization
- Proven ability to take initiative and champion a project from conception through implementation and evaluation
- Demonstrated ability to support continuous process improvement
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of the team to achieve departmental goals
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint (or other visualization applications) and enterprise systems (ex. asset management and labour management applications)
