Job Description

- In collaboration with design team, develop Controls systems including hardware specs, full BOM, and electrical schematics
- Hardware, PLC, HMI and component research and specification/selection
- Industrial electrical panel design and component selection
- Electrical panel layout, wiring, cable routing
- Create functional PLC and HMI programs offline using mechanical and controls design information
- Installation of offline program into machines to troubleshoot IO, communications, machine function (with machine build team) errors and faults that occur within the program
- Develop robot application programming when applicable
- Develop data visualization and logging applications
- Debugging and improving of PLC, HMI, machine, data tracking functions and robot applications
- Commission equipment at the customer location testing and interfacing between equipment, setting up communications between devices, performing I/O checks and completing system performance tests
- Service and troubleshooting in the field as required (occasionally)
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- A Degree or Diploma in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Controls or Electrical Engineering, Technology/Technician, coupled with industry experience
- Knowledge and experience working on PLC and HMI programming (Omron, Allen Bradley, Siemens preferred)
- Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, CSA guarding, CSA Safety Standards, and Robot Safety Standards
- Solid understanding of Ontario and Canadian Electrical Code and Electrical Circuits with proven practical experience
- Knowledge and experience working on data visualization/logging, robot and vision systems, and programming of other sub-systems beneficial
- Proficient operating in the metric system and use of metric tools
- Ability to work openly in a team environment and communicate ideas and challenges clearly
- High degree of mechanical aptitude with detail oriented and accuracy driven work habits
- Excellent organization skills and ability to work independently
