Marketing Manager, Communications (In office and remote options available)

Position Location: London, Ontario or within 2-3 hour radius.

In your role as the Marketing Manager, Communications, your main goal is to plan and manage the creation of written, audio and visual content, for purposes of developing and stewarding the Voices brand, growing our digital footprint, and supporting our public relations, advertising and acquisition campaigns and activities.

 

More specifically, you will oversee a team of content creators specializing in writing, audio/visual, graphics, public relations and community building. 

 

As a brand leader, the Marketing Manager, Communications, is an expert in brand voice and all of its expressions (audio/visual and written), understands our target customers from their pain points and aspirations, and can identify areas of opportunity to generate awareness and advocacy for the brand. The Marketing Manager, Communications is a skilled editor and people leader, providing feedback and guidance to the team. This position reports to the Director, Marketing.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Create and execute the strategic plan for content marketing, guiding the creation of written, audio and visual content and assets for various properties and channels including the web, blog, YouTube, podcast distribution networks etc. 
  • Create and execute the strategic plan for PR, identifying areas of opportunities to position Voices as a thought leader and drive traffic and backlinks to the website
  • Manage a team of specialists, including a graphic designer, audio/visual content producer, content writer, PR specialist and community manager providing regular coaching, mentoring, support and performance tracking/review. 
  • Foster a creative environment where new ideas are safe to be expressed, and when appropriate, pursued and supported. 
  • Work closely with the Demand Generation team, creating assets to support acquisition and sales
  • Manage projects and deliverables for various assets, including long and short form videos, graphics, articles, web pages, audio podcasts,  original research, advertising assets, and more.
  • Leverage digital insights (e.g. Google Analytics, SEO tools Keyword Planning), as well as internal documentation (e.g. content gaps) to inform topics and direction of content creation. 
  • Grow our qualified audience by providing regular, helpful content that’s aligned with the needs and interests our target customers, and optimized according to SEO best practices.
  • Monitor Voices organic search results, as well as what competing content related to the voice over industry is otherwise available, to ensure that as much as possible, all signs point to Voices.  
  • Strengthen Voices’ content position by ensuring that content is regularly updated with relevant information, as well as positioned appropriately for intent, audience and organic search.
  • Be a champion and steward of brand standards, including upholding good grammar and spelling as well as written, audio and visual brand guidelines. 
  • Create and maintain the content calendar
  • Edit content or articles that are written by others in the company for brand voice and standards. 
  • Lead independent research activities, including the creation of the annual trends report survey, and year end report, as well as working with 3rd party vendors to produce original research that results in media placement and readership among our target publications and audiences.

 

Required Skills

  • 5-7 years work experience in a marketing communications capacity 
  • Prior experience managing people: You’re a compassionate leader with the power to adapt your management style to each personality, all while ensuring that standards are upheld and goals are met.
  • Excellent communicator and creative thinker
  • Thorough understanding of SEO and how to optimize content to improve organic rankings 
  • Strong attention to detail, project management skills
  • Strong analytically, with the ability to perform analyses on data as a basis to inform decision making and report on results
  • Proficiency and/or experience with various online platforms including Salesforce, Google Analytics, Hootsuite, WordPress, AHREFS (or other SEO tools), etc.
  • A dual-minded approach: You’re highly creative and an excellent writer, but can also be process-driven, think scale, and rely on data to make decisions.
  • Coursework and/or certification in Pragmatic Marketing is an asset.

 

Location

  • The Voices office is located in London, ON; however, remote work options are available
  • There is a requirement of the candidate living 2-3 hours from London, ON
