Intermediate Shopify Web Developer

As an Intermediate Shopify Web Developer at Arcane, you will be an integral part of a development team. You will work alongside our talented Web Developers creating exciting, original web projects and be able to contribute your specialty competencies and communication skills in a variety of internal team settings. Duties & Responsibilities 

• Develops custom designed web components for Shopify Plus projects, following established project architecture and development best practices
• Works independently to self-manage assigned tasks, to deliver exceptional results on time & within budget
• Provides timely updates to the lead developer to ensure web development solutions remain on track
• Collaborates on web development planning exercises, using a variety of communication channels and platforms with internal stakeholders
• Works with the Lead Developer and other team members to develop new UX & UI solutions
• Intakes and updates web page content, product and store data

Qualifications and Skills 

• 5+ years of continuous web development experience in a freelance, agency or corporate environment
• College diploma or a university degree with interactive media, computer science or web development focused courses
• Demonstrated expertise with Shopify for established ecommerce brands
• Certifications and/or demonstrated proficiency in web development is an asset for this position
• Strong knowledge and understanding in HTML, CSS, SCSS, JavaScript/jQuery, Liquid (Shopify's templating language) in addition to Ruby/Ruby on Rails
• Comfortable exporting, editing and importing Shopify product data
• Familiarity with integrating third party services including REST API’s
• Good understanding of scripting languages such as JavaScript and jQuery
• Understanding of and has experience with implementing responsive design using mobile first development
• A strong understanding & interest in back-end development, server administration, maintenance & security is a plus
• Be attentive, accountable and have strong communication skills to stay inline with project requirements
• Organization skills & drive to plan forward to next task(s) are necessary to succeed in this role
• Familiarity with Code Version Control (GIT) and related tools (GitHub/GitLabs/BitBucket)
