Recently, we successfully completed the upgrade of the Canadian Army’s LAV III fleet, providing it with a flexible, multipurpose capability to effectively respond to a full range of operations, ensuring that the LAV remains the backbone of the Canadian Army. The Military Truck programs opportunity expands on this capability into adjacent market segments of logistical trucks and ancillary equipment. Position Description:
- Support Subcontract SOW, DID, and Technical Specification Development
- Support design verification and reporting activities:
- Review and determine acceptance of qualification test plans
- Obtain and document objective evidence of design requirement compliance
- Coordinate inspection activities for critical components as required
- Review and approve vendor verification plans
- Interface with Project Engineering and GDLS-C subject matter experts, to ensure vendor requirements have been suitably verified.
- Develop and maintain Quality Assurance Provisions (QAPs).
- Apply Quality Clauses, obtain verification data and determine acceptance of prototype part procurements
- Disposition discrepant material that has been quarantined during prototype builds.
- Develop and support Project Quality Plans
- Liaise with the production Product Assurance (PA) organization to ensure a whole system approach to verification
Position Requirements:
- University Degree or College Diploma in Engineering or a technical field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong technical and analytical ability
- Product knowledge of Military/LAV family of vehicles
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to be agile, set priorities and multi-task under pressure
- Strong systems thinking perspective
- Ability to travel (20% Canadian, 20% US & International) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and/or Level 2 (Secret) security clearance;
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the application and industry knowledge for Heavy Truck (Class 8) and Ancillary Equipment solutions
- Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional team and provide technical leadership and direction as appropriate
- Strong knowledge of cross-departmental procedures/practices
- Knowledge of vehicle design practices
- Experience with Data/Knowledge Management systems and practices
- Exposure to Systems requirements definition, analysis, allocations
- Exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology and tools
- Working knowledge of GDLS Internal Process System and Systems Engineering Fundamentals
