Hiring Range: $57,594 - $72,018.

Position Overview:
The Entrepreneurship Student Coordinator plays a key role in supporting entrepreneurship programming by collaborating closely with numerous student club executives across Western’s campus to deliver engaging, high-quality events and an overall positive experience with Entrepreneurship and the SEI Building including the unique maker space. The role will proactively engage with club executives to understand their club objectives, recommending event formatting, planning and organizing guest speakers, and managing event logistics to ensure seamless execution. The Entrepreneurship Student Coordinator will oversee a large team of work-study students, providing direction, managing schedules and workloads, and fostering a positive, productive team environment. In addition, the role supports Entrepreneurship by contributing to the development and enhancement of the work-study engagement strategy in collaboration with the Innovation Director.
Responsibilities:
Support Student Club Engagement
- Engage with student club executives to support the delivery of high-quality entrepreneurship-related experiences. Partner with clubs to ensure successful event execution by assisting with planning, understanding their goals, recommending event formats, coordinating guest speakers, and managing logistics such as event size and flow.
- Prepare the SEI Building collaboration space to assist with the setup and take down of club events ensuring the space is clean and in working order.
- Determine funding needs and distribute approved budget amounts while managing the overall club sponsorship budget.
- Engage Western Hospitality and Facilities Management as needed for events.
- Connect clubs to mentors, resources, and other clubs.
- Assist the Internal Director on developing and enhancing the club engagement strategy.
Oversee Work Study Students
- Oversee and manage a team of 15–20 work-study students, including scheduling, assigning tasks and projects, providing direction and support, monitoring performance, and addressing any conflicts that arise.
- Organize and run regular team meetings for study students, social events and other touch points as needed.
- Manage scheduling and allocation of student’s time.
- Track and report work-study student hours to Payroll in accordance with School guidelines.
- Assist the Internal Director on developing and enhancing the work study engagement strategy.
Client Advising
- Provide guidance to students, faculty, staff, and alumni during peak periods or when there is client overflow, supporting the development of business plans (e.g., market analysis, strategy, competitive analysis, operations, finance) and specific tools to grow their ventures, such as cash flow projections, marketing plans, and pitch decks.
- Assist in identifying and accessing sources of funding for startups, including grants and business plan competitions.
- Assist clients with connections to other resources in the university ecosystem, including other Institute clients, and within the broader London community.
- Stay abreast of current developments within industry.
- Publicly support clients in the community.
Institute Initiatives and Priorities
- Support the Institute team to execute events and programming.
- Work with Internal director and other advisors on student engagement strategy.
- Work with the Institute team to create new entrepreneurial opportunities.
- Assist the communications team with sourcing student success stories to promote entrepreneurship at Western through social media channels.
- Work closely with the Centre’s Director with respect to collecting, analyzing, and reporting on Centre’s metrics.
- Maintain a visible presence in the SEI Building collaboration space to support students, answer questions and ensure the space is clean and fully operational.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- A University degree is required.
- 2 years of relevant experience. Entrepreneurial experience is an asset.
- Experience planning and executing events is preferred.
- Experience in Western’s Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship Programming is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to manage workloads, coordinate scheduling, and navigate team dynamics effectively.
- Experience working with students or peer mentoring preferred.
- Experience leading a small team and assuming multiple roles as an asset.
- Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to complete detailed analytics and reports.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders (students, staff, partner organizations, mentors, potential donors, government officials, etc.).
- Self-motivated multi-tasker with strong organizational skills.
- Judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines and adapt to growth and change.
- Strong record of teamwork with motivation and ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to think innovatively and to propose and initiate new programming ideas or service delivery models that meet the needs of students, alumni, youth, community members, and campus partners.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
- Intermediate skills in the use of Microsoft Office, as well as internet and email applications.
- Understanding of the role that entrepreneurship and innovation programs play in the engagement and development of all constituents.
- Valid driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle, preferred.
- Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the University’s events, activities, and travel on occasion.
- This role will require modified hours during peak periods (September–November and January–March) to support evening events, with regular hours resuming outside of these times.
