About Us

The Department of Western Technology Services (WTS) is a central source committed to providing high-quality, cost-effective technology solutions and services to the campus community in support of the teaching and research missions of the University. WTS works collaboratively with other IT groups within Western’s faculties and support units to leverage central supported technology solutions and services where appropriate.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

The Administrative Assistant supports the administration of physical and electronic resources for the Western Technology Services. The incumbent may be responsible for room bookings, office furniture and moving, supply ordering, coordinating meetings, reference checks, phone directory, internal mailing lists, mail and report distribution. They will also support student job postings, inventory and procurement processes. This role provides general information and front line support to visitors to the Western Technology Services, responds to phone and e-mail inquiries and refers inquiries to other resources.

Qualifications Education:

- Community College Diploma in an administrative field

Experience:

- 1 year experience providing customer service in a business office setting

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
-Knowledge of general office procedures including records management systems;

-Ability to establish effective routines for excellent communication with all members of the team to maximize productivity;

-Proven ability and natural inclination to interact with people in professional, respectful and diplomatic manner;

-Self-motivated multi-tasker with strong organizational skills;

-Positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation;

-Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative and follow through on work assignments;

-Familiarity with University policies and procedures preferred

-Written and verbal communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience

-Customer service skills to understand customer needs and expectations, with a desire to deliver helpful and reliable service to the University community

-Training and experience using Mustang Market, Peoplesoft HR and Financial would be considered an asset
