Back End Software Developer - Trading Platforms

 

The Role: Lead Software Developer.

The Location: London, Ont. or anywhere in Canada remote. Boulder, CO or anywhere in US remote

We design, develop, and host data rich, full featured, high traffic applications for financial institutions, brokerages, and media clients around the world. We deliver custom user interfaces that complement our clients' existing brands. With access to thousands of in-house data feeds, we utilize highly leveraged service tier applications to create solutions that delight our customers. Responsibilities:

  • Leverage your 7+ years of experience building applications and mentoring Developers to provide your team with technical guidance and training.
  • Work with the Technology Manager and the Scrum Master to lead a cross-functional agile team developing and maintaining valuable products for our clients.
  • Develop "how" we build and deliver software solutions that align with the customer and technology vision in partnership with Financial, Technical and Solution Architects.
  • Produce high quality designs and code that are performant, intuitive, and secure.
  • Dive into complex problems with our systems with the desire to understand it and its relationship to other systems.
  • Build and maintain technical backlog, pipeline, and roadmap. Work with team leadership to prioritize.
  • Partner with the team to meet both internal and client delivery dates.
  • Design, lead, and execute technical solutions and improvements.
  • Mentor and coach team members of all levels; every code review, every design review is a coaching opportunity. Be accountable for overall quality of team deliverables.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 7+ years of development experience
  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills
  • Substantial experience in Agile development methodologies
  • Ability to strategize how to best support competing priorities for client delivery and technical innovation/improvement
  • Ability to design and develop new functionality in our products with an eye towards performance, testability, and ease of maintenance
  • Extensive skill with performance analysis and tuning

 

Bonus haves:

  • Experience with C#/Java development.
  • Experience with concurrent / parallel execution.   
  • Experience working with big data in a high-speed, high-availability environment.    
  • Experience with build systems and pipelines (Jenkins, Gradle, Azure Pipelines, etc.).    
  • Experience working with Cassandra, Hadoop and ElasticSearch, MS SQL Server, Redis or other data systems.  
  • Experience with S3 or other distributed object stores. 

 

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $83,200 to $172,800. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
