The Risk Analyst is part of the Group Customer Technology (“GCT”) organization that is responsible for IT risk management services for Canada Life.  This individual will report to the Technology Risk Manager and will work closely with various stakeholders within the department, and across the organization, to help identify and manage risk requirements in a timely manner with the goal to minimize/control risks, which is expected by our customers, regulators, and audit. In addition, this role will support in satisfying our Group Customer clients’ request for information around our IT environment and security posture.

What you will do 

  • Assist the business in compiling and responding to IT and security related requests of our external clients through the understanding of our Information Security (“IS”) policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with IS Risk, Audit, Change Management, Shared Enterprise Services, and various stakeholders through the Risk Management process which includes the following:
    • Analyze and identify gaps in our current IT policies and standards for our systems
    • Assist in the Exception and Audit process including testing of controls and remediation plans.
  • Participate in the Change Management process to review changes for risks, review for compliance, and assist to mitigate risks associated with the change.
  • Prepare standardized risk reports and providing communication to stakeholders on outstanding risks that may impact their business.
  • Enhance current work processes which including the documentation of operational processes.
  • Support other technology risk management projects and activities as required
  • Work closely in various tools such as SharePoint, Service Now, Confluence, Power BI, JIRA, and Microsoft Office products. 

What you will bring 

  • Graduated from post secondary education in an information technology or related field.
  • 2+ years working experience in information technology with firm knowledge and practical experience with IS methodologies, procedures, and practices.
  • Strong communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively to a non-technical audience. 
  • Ability to aggregate and analyze quantitative and qualitative data and visualize the data.
  • Self-motivated individual who can work both independently, with minimal oversight, and collaboratively as a team within a virtual setting.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates ability to multi-task and prioritizing multiple competing priorities in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrates high level of personal ownership and accountability.
  • Experience in any Risk, Internal Audit or Change Management setting is considered an asset.
  • Background in the Insurance or Banking Industry would be an asset.
