The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry provides outstanding education within a research-intensive, distributed learning environment where tomorrow’s physicians, dentists and health researchers and other scholars learn to be socially responsible leaders in the advancement of human health. The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is the largest Faculty on the Western University campus and employs over 1,800 part time and full-time faculty and over 1,500 staff.

The Quality Assurance Analyst will be responsible for providing quality assurance support for end-user application systems programming and development services for the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry as part of the Information Services (IS) team. The incumbent performs manual and automated testing to identify, isolate, and track coding errors and bugs within applications and software and to identify any potential problems that users might encounter, working with the IS, Postgraduate Medical Education, Undergraduate Medical Education, Dentistry, and other teams to resolve issues. Schulich currently has several applications that are critical to day-to-day operations that help to support major administrative and academic units within the School. The incumbent is part of the development team responsible for developing, supporting, maintaining, and evolving these applications and the related data, in order to meet the needs of Schulich. The existing applications are used by faculty, staff, students and hospital end users on campus as well as other sites that comprise the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.

Education:
-   3-year Community College Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with courses taken in software quality assurance

Experience:
-   1 year of working experience (internship or co-op) in software development quality assurance
-   Experience with quality assurance technologies in an academic IT environment is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   Familiarity with software quality assurance methodologies, tools, and processes
-   Knowledge of web-based applications and query databases skills (SQL and scripting)
-   Familiarity with best practices in developing test cases and test plans
-   Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with colleagues in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
-   Ability to remain highly motivated, resilient, innovative, and collaborative when faced with challenges
-   Problem solving skills with a sense of urgency in resolving issues and getting tasks completed with excellent troubleshooting ability along with hands-on expertise in technical support
-   Ability to adapt to change and master new technical and organization concepts and processes
-   Ability to provide solutions and ideas for improvement by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required
-   Communication skills to describe technical concepts effectively to both novice and sophisticated users
-   Ability to write clear, concise and accurate procedural documentation
-   Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
-   Self-driven, independent thinker who is highly motivated and possesses an intrinsic passion for quality
-   Ability to follow formal business practices with high attention to detail
-   Ability and willingness to stay abreast of technological developments with a commitment to ongoing professional development with a desire to take on new challenges
-   Computer skills with the ability to creatively use and integrate technology to improve quality and productivity
-   Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
-   Demonstrated ability take initiative, to work independently and follow through on work assignments
-   Ability to prioritize and organize a fluctuating workload
-   Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
