Graphic Designer

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada at the time of application. Candidates must have one of the following to be eligible for consideration – Canadian Citizenship, valid Permanent Resident status, valid Protected Person status or a valid open Work Permit.

Big Blue Bubble is looking for a Graphic Designer who will be involved in the creation of visual styling, user interface, in-app and player facing design elements. The Graphic Designer will have the opportunity to work with production teams on game projects to assist in the design of new features, creating user interface assets, motion graphics and interface animations.

A candidate for this role will excel bringing extensive knowledge and experience in design principles and fundamentals paired with a strong sense of aesthetics, and a firm grasp on designing pleasing user experiences. The successful candidate brings a strong portfolio of work in designing compelling interfaces, graphics, and animations, and pushes themselves to be current and relevant with design trends.

In this position these are the things you will be responsible for:
  • Collaborate with Game Designers, Programmers and Art Leads to define design and asset goals for products, and strategize ways to achieve them throughout the design and development of a game.
  • Create high quality, compelling art assets to be used in game.
  • Ensure interface elements deliver an engaging, polished gameplay experience.
  • Create front end flow design, menu hierarchy designs and layouts.
  • Maintain consistent Interface architecture, file naming, and preparation conventions, procedures and processes, consistent with the development process.
  • Continually hone creative and technical skills, to keep up to date with new technologies and design trends.


To be an effective team member, you will have:
  • 5+ years of relevant Graphic Design, Layout, or User Interface experience within an agency, marketing department or gaming studio.
  • A firm understanding of the fundamentals of User Interface and User Experience design.
  • A strong artistic background, demonstrating an excellent eye for designing compelling interactive media.
  • Proven experience in layout and Typography.
  • Expert Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Experience in game development engines an asset (Unity, Unreal a plus).
  • A portfolio that demonstrates these abilities.

  • Self-directed and self-motivated.
  • The ability to design with intent, with a user first focus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Comfortable working with a team.
  • Enthusiastic about videogames and videogame culture.
