We are establishing our new head office in London and looking to grow our team! Candidates located in this region will be given preference.

This job may require travel to the Toronto office, or in other locations across Ontario for in office days, training, or events. In office days are typically held monthly. Travel reimbursement will be provided in accordance with WSIB policies.

Job Summary:
Deliver and provide oversight of the data science roll during the development of data products and will use cutting edge machine learning analytic techniques. Innovate & find creative ways to source & leverage data to support modelling efforts, leveraging structured & unstructured data, and big data technologies. Leverage visualization toolkits to discover strategic insights and provide prescriptive solutions in support of evidence-based decision making and execution of the corporate strategic plan and goals. Develop proof of concepts and prototypes to be delegated to various data science team members for creating.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external clients to develop tools and services such as modelling, dashboard development, engineer new data features, decision aids and business case analysis to drive innovation, strategic initiatives and recommend solutions. Translating business problems into an analytical framework develop and deliver on analytic design. Review data science team’s work to ensure alignment with analytical framework
Work with multiple business stakeholders to understand critical business problems and areas of opportunity influence to implement recommendations. Build new data science models to improve customer experience and engagement, while optimizing the operations outcome.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple analytics projects to deliver end-to-end solutions including development of new insights through the combination of datasets, designing and maintaining new data pipelines, maintenance of ongoing analytics datasets and solutions, Conversion of predictive models to prescriptive analytics for operations.
- Collaborate closely with ITC teams to improve existing products and build and integrate new solutions
- Lead team made up of members of Data science team arranging their rolls and workload to support the projects
- Manage the data resource identification and verification, including internal and external data sources, the leverage of new data collection processes and collaboration with subject matter experts to select the relevant sources of information. Work with external stakeholders to ensure that proper data models are maintained when ingesting external data. Follow proper protocol when dealing with confidential data sets including financial and HR data within the organization.
- Divide the various data sources across Data Science team members for review and continuous monitoring
- Play a major role as SME in transition of the organization from traditional analytics, to modern solutions including but not limited to, Big Data Analytics, Machine Learning and AI solutions.
- Specialization or Expertise in: Deep neural networks (convolution neural network / CNN, recurrent networks / RNN), Natural Language Processing (NLP), including sentiment analysis, part of speech tagging (POS).
- Set up Proof of concepts for each technology type and lead Data Science team on development and delivery of prototypes
- Collaborate with business areas across the organization to assist the business with making evidence-based decisions. Perform reporting and analytic quantification assessments for the business and make recommendations and/or develop new analytical solutions or optimizations. Provide advice to the design and development of new information management products to meet client needs, including the data visualization and enhancements to existing analytical products e.g. canned reports, tools
- Foster and provide analytic review for an end to end model design and development for different analytic modeling technologies (SAS, R, Python, etc).
- Automate data-driven tasks; design processes that require zero intervention.
- Set requirements for Model development in CBIA and ensure proper alignment across data science and predictive statistical modeling teams.
Job Requirements:
- Education (Level and Specialty / Discipline):
- MSc Statistics
- MSc Computer Science
- MSc Data Scientist Applied Mathematics
- MSc Engineering
- PhD Statistics/Computer Science/Engineering/Mathematics (preferred)
- Experience (Years of Related Experience and Type of Experience):
- Minimum 6 years working in a related capacity
- Technical or Professional Qualifications or Certifications/Designations:
- Experience with machine learning, NLP and AI methodologies.
- Extensive experience with data wrangling tools and techniques.
