Project Engineering Manager

 

The Project Engineering Manager (PE Manager) for High Growth Markets (HGM) leads a team of project managers, engineers, project coordinators and drafters aligned with and supporting global high growth market regions.  The PE Manager is also personally responsible for managing some complex projects in HGM and North America (NA).  The PE Manager is responsible for developing and applying processes and specialty knowledge related to international trade, logistics, technical, legal, and commercial negotiations in LATAM, MENA, APAC.  This position advances Trojan’s Sales and Project Execution strategies for success in those regions.  Manages projects through Trojan’s project life cycle, including technical specification review, costing, scope of supply, risk assessment and management and issue resolution with customers to project close-out.

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Provide technical support to sales and external contacts through input on commercial or sales strategies in HGM regions, commercial savvy and technical expertise, to improve Trojan’s win rate. 

  • Review and comment on international contract specifications during the feasibility and design phases of a project in terms of technical and commercial content. Engaging team SMEs as required. 

  • Develop Scopes of Supply and Costing for projects representing Trojan’s overall offering.

  • Check and Approve all shop drawing submittals prior to sending to Contractor/Engineer.  Generate custom customer facing documents as required aligned with international contracting practices.

  • Interface with engineer and customer during submittal review phase and on project initiation, ensuring all documents are approved and in place to support the project build, hip and payment cycles, engaging with Finance or external banking partners as required.

  • Maintain Project Portfolio through Project Watch, following Trojan Project Life Cycle processes.

  • Provides leadership and is responsible for performance management, training and development of direct reports

  • Uses, understands and trains others in the use of DBS tools.

  • Responsible for the coaching/mentoring to more junior Project Managers

  • Deliver Team Project Revenue to schedule, minimizing risk and exposure for Trojan.

  • Meet targets for Project Cost and Quality, ensuring all costs are captured and managed, all designs are thorough and complete.   

  • Effectively Lead and Develop Associates to ensure high levels engagement and enablement.

  • Support Sales through the timely completion of deliverables in support of quoting activity.

Qualifications

 

  • 5-10 years previous project management experience in the water, contracting and construction, or equipment manufacturing sectors

  • International project or commercial experience an asset

  • Previous experience in a leadership role

  • Post-secondary training in a related discipline, graduate engineer preferred

  • Self-motivated individual able to multi-task and meet tight deadlines

  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of project management methodologies and application of project life cycles

  • PMP designation (or pursuing) an asset
