Description

StarTech.com is currently looking for a Sustaining Engineering Associate to join our Product Development team at our Corporate Office in London, Ontario.

Reporting to the Manager of Product Verification and Sustaining Engineering, the Sustaining Engineering Associate works closely with Product Managers, Product Developers, Supplier Management and our Suppliers to maintain and drive continuous improvement into StarTech.com’s launched product portfolio. 

The Sustaining Engineering Associate will define product change requirements, perform technical evaluations and product verification.  They will determine testing criteria needed to ensure products meet both the functional and quality needs of our customers and market.

In this position you will:

  • Work closely with Product Verification, Product Development, Supplier Management, Product Quality and Suppliers on product change design, specification, and implementation. 
  • Provide insight into supplier driven changes and create proposals for internally driven changes while balancing product cost, quality, and delivery expectations.
  • Work with Product Support, Product Verification, Developers and Suppliers to find, reproduce and isolate product issues, and determine and verify product corrections.
  • Communicate directly with suppliers as required, sometimes outside of core working hours due to international locations.
  • Author product requirement, product verification and quality testing documents.
  • Maintain process data and workflows as necessary to complete product changes and ensure hand-off to other departments.
  • Review documentation provided by our Product Information team for accuracy
  • Perform new product development tasks as necessary to support the product launch process

Your Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Education in a related area such as Electrical Technologist, Mechatronics Technologist or Engineering Degree.
  • Experience with electrical / electronic design, application or verification either through schoolwork or a previous role.
  • Experience and comfort with electrical measurement tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes
  • Demonstrated above-average communication and interpersonal skills are a must, as well as strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities
  • A self-starting, resourceful and genuinely curious outlook, matched with robust problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with MS Office tools
