This is a temporary opportunity for up to 2 years in the Toronto or London office.
Salary Grade:  N09        From:  $107,373.00  To:  $134,216.00

Job Summary:

Provide expert advice, consultation and strategic direction to the Business on talent strategies, HR initiatives and critical business decisions impacting the management of human resources. Support the Business areas in the design delivery and execution of the organizational and Cluster people plans.

Partner with client group(s) leadership team in the strategic planning, delivery and integration of corporate human resources programs, processes, policies and products.  Actively participate in leadership teams’ strategic business planning process; and align HR strategies with business initiatives, delivering programmatic content, and supporting operations.

Partner with centres of expertise and other areas of the Human Resources division to access resources and implement HR and business solutions
 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Participate as a member of the client’s leadership team and act as a technical resource, providing a holistic approach in the direction, advice and guidance to senior management in strategic, tactical, executional and operational issues impacting and/or relating to human resources management.   This includes:
    • Assisting in the development of long and short term business goals through strategic workforce planning analysis
    • Leading the development of planned outcomes and measures related to the managing and development of people
    • Coaching and developing executive leaders to grow/enhance people-management capabilities
    • Providing strategic advice and consultation on human resources strategy, initiatives and issues relating to organizational design, change management, total compensation, talent management, recruitment, and compliance with HR policies and procedures
  • Plan and implement new/revised HR programs, services, processes and procedures which align and integrate with the business, support their unique needs, respond to new initiatives and meet future business requirements.  This includes:
    • Developing and maintaining effective communication linkages with all levels of management within HR Division and other areas as required to identify ongoing and changing needs and to ensure HR services and products are aligned with business requirements to maintain a high level of customer service and support.
    • Engaging and partnering with centres of expertise and other areas within the HR division to provide input to the corporate human resource sub functions to ensure the effective planning, development, design and implementation of corporate wide programs, policies, practices and processes to meet the needs of the HR division and the business. 
  • Lead HR program deliverables for cluster-specific initiatives and projects to full implementation.  Develop HR project plan ensuring alignment of HR programs, products and services with the strategic direction. 
  • Plan and develop short and long term branch strategic business plans, goals and objectives to operationalize and support WSIB and divisional strategic goals and objectives.  As a member of the human resources management team, collaborate with peers and Vice-President, Human Resources to identify, recommend and develop divisional strategy, goals and objectives in support of the corporate and business strategies, goals, priorities and objectives.
  • In collaboration with the HR Systems and Human Capital Analytics branch.  Gather and leverage workforce data to formulate people insights and recommendations.  Assess and report on the performance of HR programs and initiatives.
Job Requirements:
  1. Education (Level and Specialty / Discipline):    
  • Post-secondary education specializing in the Human Resources Management field.
  1. Experience (Years of Related Experience and Type of Experience):           
  • 5 years of experience in progressive HR Advisory or HR Generalist capacity, supporting business in corporate functions or operational functions in the insurance or public sector industry verticals
  • Proven experience developing and executing key human resources initiatives that help business leaders achieve their business objectives, in areas such as:   performance management, employee relations, organizational and job design, change management, collective agreement consultation recruitment and retention.
  • 2 – 3 years project and program management experience
  • 1 – 2 years of senior level facilitation experience
  • Strong understanding of organizational structures, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning and leadership principles and practices
  • Specialized experience in one of the following HR domains:  Learning & Development, Talent Acquisition, Employee and/or Labour Relations, Change and Organizational Effectiveness;
  • Solid understanding of HRMS systems
  • Foundational understanding of HR data and analytics and the ability to provide business insights using HR data.
  • 5 years managerial experience
  1. Technical or Professional Qualifications or Certifications/Designations:
  • CHRL designation (preferred)
  • Change Management certification (optional but highly suggested)
