The Role:

We are seeking an Intermediate DevOps Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role is critical in orchestrating and optimizing our software delivery pipeline, managing third-party tools, and ensuring seamless integration across systems. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, PMO, and Operations teams to drive efficiency, reliability, and scalability in our DevOps practices.

A key responsibility will be integrating and coordinating CI/CD pipelines across 25 different delivery units, while managing and standardizing the supporting infrastructure and tools. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with diverse requirements from multiple software delivery teams and finding ways to accommodate their needs while aligning with corporate engineering standards and best practices.

In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the accuracy and availability of the information that powers our enterprise operations. Your contributions will directly influence key areas such as software license management and corporate compliance, particularly in relation to technical debt. The insights you provide will be highly visible and regularly utilized by our senior leadership team, making your work both impactful and strategically important.

 

What You'll Be Doing in This Role: 

  • Administer and manage third-party licenses for the engineering tool stack.
  • Define, document, and communicate standards for approved tools.
  • Oversee the purchase order (PO) process.
  • Lead operational activities including:
    • CI/CD pipelines
    • Artifact registries
    • Source code repositories
    • Application configurations and workflows
    • Release practices and package management
  • Ensure infrastructure components are reliable and resilient.
  • Develop expertise in tools such as GitLab, Nexus, and other repositories.
  • Build and maintain engineering efficiency metrics using Jira and GitLab, visualized through Grafana-based OKR reporting systems.
  • Act as a liaison between Engineering, PMO, and Operations to coordinate technology rollouts.

 

Qualifications of this Role: 

  • Experience migrating backend storage systems (e.g., Nimble).
  • Familiarity with engineering metrics and OKR frameworks.
  • Proven ability to unify and streamline DevOps practices across multiple delivery units.
  • Strong operational experience with CI/CD systems and Linux/Unix system administration.
  • Deep understanding of system integration and third-party system impacts.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Code repository systems (e.g., GitLab)
    • Container orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes)
    • Static code analysis tools (e.g., SonarQube)
    • Artifact repository managers (e.g., Nexus)
    • Package managers such as Maven, RPM, PyPi, NPM, Go, Grunt, or Gradle.
    • Monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Elastic, Prometheus, Kibana.
  • Some experience with .NET and general software development practices.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently while taking direction from a cross-functional team.
  • Experience analyzing and improving build systems across multiple business units.
  • Knowledge of container systems (e.g., Docker, LXC) and version control systems (e.g., Git, Subversion).
  • Comfortable learning on the fly and adapting to evolving technical landscapes.
  • Persistence and flexibility in technical decision-making.
