Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Applications Engineer is responsible for the hands-on support and execution of pilot demonstrations of advanced oxidation and other emerging water and wastewater treatment technologies. This role involves piloting test systems to support New
Product Development, Piloting fieldwork, and direct engagement with customers to showcase Trojan’s innovative solutions in real-world settings. Leveraging your technical expertise and practical experience, you will play a critical role in validating new technologies, optimizing performance, and driving customer confidence in our products and capabilities
across North America.

This position is part of the Innovation and Technology department located in London, ON. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement in which you can work up to 4 days per week at the company location identified above and part-time remotely from your home.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the setup, operation, and optimization of pilot demonstration systems for advanced oxidation and other emerging water treatment technologies at customer sites.
  • Assemble, install, and commission pilot systems, ensuring proper functionality and adherence to project requirements, while troubleshooting and resolving on-site issues as needed.
  • Work directly with customers to provide technical support during field demonstrations, offering guidance, addressing concerns, and showcasing Trojan’s value proposition through hands-on engagement.
  • Conduct on-site testing and data collection to validate system performance, analyzing results to support customer decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams—including technical engineers, sales, and researchers—to define project goals, tailor solutions, and align on performance expectations.
  • Provide on-site customer training, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of pilot system operation and maintenance.
  • Travel extensively (up to 30%) across North America to support field demonstrations, customer meetings, and other related activities

The essential requirements of the job include: 

  • Graduate in engineering/applied science technology
  • 5+ years of experience in field support or applications engineering for water/wastewater applications.
  • Practical experience performing process and equipment design calculations, including sizing and costing of pilot systems.
  • Proven track record of working directly with external customers in the municipal water treatment sector to understand and meet technical needs.
  • Ability to travel (up to 30%) throughout North America to customer sites and other locations as required

It would be an asset if you have:

  • Expertise in advanced oxidation technologies (e.g., ozone, UVAOP) or related processes such as filtration, granular media filtration, or dissolved air flotation.
  • Familiarity with related water treatment technologies, including clarifiers, lime softening, coagulation, ion exchange, and solids handling.
