What does JMP Solutions, Automation & Robotics Division do?

We design, build and integrate world-class automation solutions to solve challenging material handling and manufacturing problems for a variety of industries. Our projects typically last between 3-12 months and range in value from $500k to $5M with project team sizes between 5 and 20 members. 

Purpose of the Role

The purpose is to serve as a leader to develop and evolve JMP’s standardized solutions /modules/technology, assist with applications efforts, liaise with customers/sales team/marketing/engineering and project management teams, and coach/support execution teams as they execute case packing projects. 

What qualifies you for this opportunity?

  • 10+ years of industrial automation experience
  • Firsthand experience in the field automation, of robotics, mechanical design, custom machinery, and/or control systems
  • A passion for combining technical skills and commercial skills to create and evolve solutions to take to the market
  • Leadership skills to engage, rally, and energize customers, team members and vendors around an idea or solution
  • Talent to conceptualize automation solutions to complex manufacturing challenges working collaboratively within a team
  • Amazing communication skills to make presentations to customers, internal teams and vendor partners
  • Strong writing skills for preparing proposals and defining project scope
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Industrial, etc.)
  • This position has the flexibility to be based remotely, with periodic travel to our Build Facility in London Ontario, or customer sites as required 

Responsibilities

  • Applications and Supporting Sales
    • Work with sales to identify, support, tailor and customize solutions to individual customer needs
    • Prepare proposals, costing and presentations
    • Travel to/from customer facilities to meet, understand requirements, map out solutions and serve as subject matter expert to the customer
  • Solution Management and Evolution
    • Work to improve the performance, changeover, floorspace and price of the solution through:
      • Commonizing components, offerings
      • Adapting new technologies to evolve it
      • Collaborate with internal teams (mechanical, controls, pm) to improve it
      • Spearheading simulation, testing, proof-of-concepts, for solution evolutions
    • Understand competitors’ capabilities of their solution performance and advantages/disadvantages of
    • Serve as the central point person for managing capabilities, improvements, adaptations, and standards relative to the solution offering
      • Liaising with engineering, build and PM
    • Attend applicable tradeshows for customer meetings, market intel, etc.
  • Project Management
    • Support project management team directly or indirectly through the course of the project
    • Assisting in sourcing materials, technologies, components and vendor management in regards to case packing solutions
    • Liaise through the project to ensure consistent alignment between initial project expectations and what is being delivered
