Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Software Development, this position is responsible for leading Business Intelligence development at Buckland. Activities consist of dataset / report planning and development, coaching, leadership, problem solving and collaboration within IT. To perform well in this position, you must take responsibility for the teams and projects that are produced. You must be proactive in your approach to work. You must be a leader, who can guide your team to produce quality output that is well thought out and planned. You should be aware of business needs and work to understand the end goals to guide the business intelligence group to produce business accelerating solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Working closely with the Business Analysis Team, the Development Team, and LOB partners to understand, examine, recommend, and implement changes on pre-existing and new solutions.
  • Provide direction and guidance to all Business Intelligence team members related to reporting, warehousing practices, problem solving, and time management and implementing new technologies/replacing old technologies.
  • Work with the Software Architect and Database Administrator to improve and develop reporting database design.
  • Prioritizing work in a high-volume, multi-tasking environment to meet tight timelines and business needs to ensure all service level agreements are met
  • Identifying process, procedure, and information gaps, and participating in brainstorming for solutions.
  • Support the Business Intelligence Team members with their career growth through performance reviews and providing ongoing feedback.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as required.

The ideal candidate will bring:
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Business Intelligence Professional
  • 2 years’ of leadership initiatives experience leading a team
  • Expert Knowledge of Power BI. Experience with Premium features an asset
  • Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL 2016+)
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to work within a team environment to collaboratively develop new features and solutions
  • Experience with any of the following an asset: Tableau, Azure DevOps for Source Control, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Windows 10, SQL Performance Testing and Benchmarking, Performance Testing and Benchmarking, and data storage
  • Ability to self-manage to work independently and to work within a team environment.
  • Ability to work with other staff members to perform quality testing and analysis.
  • Strong Analytical abilities to evaluate existing or new features and provide detailed technical feedback that a non-technical user can understand.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, and strong attention to detail
  • Valid Passport and ability and desire to occasionally travel to Canada/Mexico
